Had an appointment to register my daughters birth today. We were asked to remain in the car until we received a call from them only to be informed that we would be not permitted to register the birth in one of the offices due to covid (bare in mind there are no restrictions). After the phone call we were invited in to be asked to wait behind a screen next to the toilets. I was shocked and amazed at being asked to register my daughters birth in a corner by the toilets when no covid restrictions are in place. I have been in there offices before and they are not tiny as we were informed. Due to the circumstances we decided not to register our daughters birth In these circumstances and have been left feeling very frustrated by the experience. I would advice anyone else to call ahead before booking to register a birth. I would not want to register a death in such a public area. A rethink about what you’re asking people to do on such an important day would be a good idea.
