Romanian Grocers Ltd Ilford

I went to the Cranbrook Rd one and bought 5 cakes looking forward to eat them at home with the children. I was so disapointed and had to bin them all! The cream was very thick and dry sticking to my teeth, could not even swallow it! (although it looked creamy and fresh). The Eclairs cream was tasting sour (instead of creamy custard) I thought it might have Lemon in it but could not taste any lemon flavour...? So, the cakes looked nice but deceiving :( Maybe their other products might be good but because of my experience I don't trust it. It is the last time to set my foot in there. Would not even give it 1 star.

Fresh meat, bread made in, cookies and cakes all fresh and reasonable priced and open from 9am to 9pm...what can you want more?

They have the best Romanian freshly made sweetbreads (cozonaci) in UK.

Lovely cakes but they could be friendlier. I guess they aren't used to people who aren't Romanian lol 😅

Loaded with fresh and smoked meat and meat preparates. Super tasty cakes and freshly baked bread. Pop in for anything and you will leave fully loaded. The staff is amazing. There are no queues as always are 3 or 4 people serving. Products are always fresh, usually stay less than a day on the shelves. They have their own butchers.
I come regularly from Luton to do my main shopping there. I use to live in Ilford, then Romford and now here in Luton i cannot find a match to them.

Charged me £4.99 for a jar of homemade zacusca that didn't have any production date or expiry date. When challenged them about this they said it has 2 years bbe. 2 years bbe since which date? They got upset for the fact that I wanted my money back and refused to give me the receipt. Buyers, beware! They are not respecting trading standards.

Amazing pastries, fresh and warm, and the people working there were welcoming and caring. Made me feel like home!! :)

Changing my review as i liked their cake but i got food poisoning this time..and one of the cake was gone bad.
