We have stayed before and will not go anywhere else now. Having a full size fridge and a microwave in the room is an absolute boon! and lovely and clean, comfy bed, full English breakfast option. We were greeted like old friends on arrival. We used to stay at travelodge before we found this little gem. This place has a homely feel and good value for money. Thanks guys :)

Stayed here last week in Jan first week in Feb 2017. It is a cheap and cheerful little Hotel, obviously not a 5 Star but you get what you pay for. MARILYN IS THE BEST! Heart and Soul of the place, she's semi retired now but if you get to meet her you're in for a treat!

The member of staff that greeted me on my arrival was very warm and welcoming. My room was larger than I had anticipated and was equipped with a fridge and a microwave which I was not expecting.
My breakfast was very tasty.
The property is a little tired and could do with some renovation. However for the money spent it was acceptable. The parking is at the back of the property and there is room for about 6 cars though once all cars are parked in the car park it is difficult to get in and out.
The property is out of the centre of Merthyr Tydfil in Dowlais so if you want to go out for a drink and some food you either have to drive or get the bus. Walking into Merthyr Tydfil would take about an hour. I was advised that if I wanted to eat locally the rugby club do food. The bus stop is right next to the property. There is a large Asda store and a Lidl store about half a mile away so within walking distance.
Unfortunately I could not get the Wi-Fi to work. I asked the staff member who had checked me into my room and she said that sometimes it does not work.

Disgusting room, the floor was so filthy and full of dust and peanuts. I wouldn't call this a hotel, it's more of a bed and breakfast. There's no restaurant. The old lady working there was alone since the owner was out of town, but she did what she could to help us out with stuff and was super friendly. We paid around 50 pounds for the room, we thought that it would have been worth more like 10 pounds. Wouldn't recommend this "hotel" to anyone and we will not come back. Would have given 1 star if it wasn't for the nice old lady.

Stayed for the weekend, great value for money. Spacious room with en suite, tv, kettle, fridge and microwave, you don't get most of that in more expensive b+b's. Very clean and friendly. Marilyn is a star, there is nothing too much trouble for her, she made us feel at home. Will definitely book here next time we are in Wales.

The only kind of positive was Marilyn's friendliness. Other than that it was awful. First of all the bedding was not clean or fresh. It was not changed, it had hairs and stains. The mattress was stained.

Had to go to Asda nearby to buy beddings, towels and cleaning products. The bathroom seemed not to have been cleaned in weeks. The floor was not vacuumed and mopped.

Old guests' left behind empty toiletries were still in the bathroom (seen this comment in another post so it must've been the same room, same month)

Spent an hour to change the bed and clean the bathroom so we i could shower and sleep. Another few good minutes in the morning to put old dirty bedding back on

There was a constant dripping sound coming from the bathroom. Also the bathroom door was very difficult to open.

Moths lurking in the room

Happy only stayed one night and survived :(

On the business card it says 'under new management since 2015'. Well management is either blind or they are only after money.

Was informed that the owner has tens of properties. No penny seemed to have been invested, it's outdated and poorly maintained.

I mean changing the bedding after each guest, clean the bathroom and hoover the room is basic common sense. They don't respect you as a guest.

Total disappointment and disgust.

Avoid at all costs.

As this is newly re-opened I think it may still be a work in progress, but the room was comfortable, though a little drafty but that was soon sorted. Good price and the Landlord was friendly. Only 10 minutes away from Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Village where there's lots to do. Supermarkets at a close distance in both directions too. Thoroughly nice stay.
