An interesting place to review.

When we stopped the restaurant and bar were shut, so one of the areas that has got good reviews was unavailable to us. This sounds as if it would have increased our rating (based on other reviews), but I can only review what we experienced.

First things first, the breakfasts were excellent. A good variety of the standard Full Breakfast to meet most needs, and they were happy to swap items. For example, the biggest breakfast included in B&B had three rashers of bacon, but I was able to swap one of these for a slice of black pudding.

Also, there are a number of options available for those who don't want the "bacon and eggs" breakfast.

They were also very generous with the teas, coffees and milk for our room.

The room itself was small and the furniture quite old. As we were out and about a lot of the time we didn't spend much time in the room, and so it didn't impact the stay too much. However, at £130 per night we would expect a bit more from a room than we received.

Excellent breakfast with a variety of choices and excellent evening meals. Everything was home made and very tasty. Friendly family run guest house and friendly staff. Loved our stay here.

Excellent host, beautiful breakfast, with brilliant selection of cold and hot dishes. Location right in the middle of town.

To be honest, the room was a little disappointing - ours was a family room. We'd been told there'd be 2 single beds, and these turned out to be air mattresses, the door to the bedroom was difficult to close/lock, and perhaps it would have better to have a normal sized shower, rather than the long one - as there really wasn't a lot of room allowing for the toilet up against the basin. Also the tap was almost missing the basin.
The breakfast was excellent, would particularly recommend the black pudding. Coffee could have been stronger with the refills.

Good things: clean, warm welcome, tasty breakfast, good location.

However, the room we stayed in was tatty and very old fashioned albeit clean. Our main complaint was that the bed was unsleepable. Old, creaky, uncomfortable and with a stained lumpy mattress, my husband finally slept on the floor at 2 a.m. Paying 100 pounds was very hard to swallow for such an uncomfortable experience and when we left to check out, wanting to speak to the manager about our experience she wasn't there.

Such a shame as the location was fab and the staff were friendly. With minimal investment this business could upgrade to be worthy of the price tag. However, as it stands now the experience was very disappointing and pricey.

Staying for work over the lock down period, so I was the only guest. The whole place was full of character and my room was cozy and comfortable. Owner is a very sweet man who made me a beautiful breakfast in the morning. Views of the harbour and 30 second walk from the stunning coast.
Couldn’t recommend a stay here enough. Good, old fashioned hospitality.
