What an amazing guitar teacher, I couldn't recommend John highly enough. I can honestly say regardless of your guitar experience you should definitely go and have a lesson, John is a super friendly guy that makes you feel welcome the moment you enter the door. If you are a beginner he will have you playing your favourite songs in no time at all and if you are an intermediate or advanced player John has a wealth of experience that is well worth tapping into. Trust me you will not be disappointed.

Our daughter Sophie wanted to learn to play the guitar as a birthday present (she turned 10). Like many parents, we were a little apprehensive about purchasing a guitar for her as we didn't know if she would stick with it or even enjoy learning. So I did a Google search and found John's website.
I called John and asked for his advice, which was really refreshing as he suggested that we didn't rush out and buy a guitar as he had a studio with plenty in and Sophie could therefore try them out and see what style she was most comfortable with.
We booked our first lesson and we arrived at John's studio. We received a genuinely friendly and warm welcome, which really put a slightly nervous 10 year old at ease (she is normally so very confident) and she relaxed into the lesson. John worked with Sophie and it was great to see her go from never having held a guitar to being able to play a few notes - which eventually formed her first song within the first lesson. Now I am not by any means suggesting she mastered the song, but the look of joy thanks to the sense of achievement, which resulted from John's patient, encouraging and friendly teaching - was fantastic to witness.
Sophie is continuing to have lessons and is growing in both confidence and skill for her guitar playing; so much so that we are now looking to buy her a guitar (John was happy to give some sound advice on this too.)

So in summary - if you are looking for a friendly, patient guitar teacher - who will have you playing a few chords or notes to form a song within your first lesson, give John a call and have a chat. We have been delighted!

I have really enjoyed my lessons with John so far and am so pleased I came across his website. From the moment you arrive he makes you feel welcome and you can always rely on having a good laugh each lesson! He is extremely knowledgable and feeds this into each lesson and he even helped me buy my first guitar! He is a fantastic teacher and you will always leave lessons with a smile on your face.

I have been learning guitar for a couple of years, I found John online during lockdown and was really pleased I did! Well structured lessons which John always prepares material for ahead of time. The best part is I really enjoy the lessons, it’s like playing guitar with a friend that actually knows what he is doing and can encourage/help me too...

My 15 year old son James has been having weekly lessons with John Booth for the last 6 months .
At the time I discovered John , James had been playing for about a year with a teacher who visited his school, his progress had slowed and his interest in the guitar was waning .
What a breath of fresh air. ! John is so welcoming , his knowledge and skill is impressive and the enthusiasm he brings to his teaching is infectious .
James looks forward to his lessons and is playing material which John chooses with him to be both enjoyable and challenging to improve his ability , this improvement has been impressive and has already been noticed by his school music staff.
From the experience I have had , I would recommend John as a guitar teacher to anyone , as he offers an enjoyable learning plan tailored to your ability whilst offering the best value for money.

I have been going to John for lessons for a while now, and whilst I have been playing for a while, I was making no real progress with the self teaching route via You Tube. Since going to John for lessons I am learning a tune a week, in a style of my choosing, as well as being given useful exercises and advice on technique. The net result is that my playing and musicality have improved over that time, and the lessons are fun and informative. Highly recommended for whatever level you are at with your playing

Under John's tuition l have gone from playing not very well to being able to play music that sounds pretty good. Each week l look forward to my lesson and always come away with more knowledge of my guitar and how to improve with practice. I highly recommend John if you want to learn or need more advanced lessons
