Good haircut but the staff all seemed very unfriendly - I wasn't really greeted on arrival and the stylist seemed extremely disinterested, meaning I had to make a huge effort to engage her in conversation throughout the cut. It also meant I felt less confident in expressing what I wanted for my haircut, and less confident in their abilities, though they turned out to be fine. Over-priced for the poor customer service received I'd say!

I have been going to Directors Hair for 5 years now - I always have my hair cut by Olivia and I trust her with my hair completely! Olivia always gives me a cut that is exactly what I've asked for and which gives me confidence in my hair cut. I have rarely found another stylist that understands the way I like my fringe to be cut, as Olivia does. I moved away from Cambridge two years ago and still make a 50-mile journey to Cambridge to get my hair cut here and have introduced my mum to this salon who also now never goes anywhere else. Everyone at Directors is friendly and welcoming and the salon has a nice relaxing atmosphere. Would highly recommend!

I had a wonderful experience at Director's hair which really made my day. I opted for a cut by a stylist in training called Hannah who is already very skilled. The short hair cut she gave me was absolutely brilliant. She was supervised by her trainer/manager throughout and the whole experience made me realise how much more there is to styling hair than just a chat, cut and blow dry. If you choose to be a model for a trainee, give yourself enough time in the day and enjoy the experience of two people doing a fabulous job on your locks, rather than one. Bargain!

I went into the salon at the beginning of the week, about 5 minutes before closing time. They were kind enough to fit me in that same week which I was really happy about. The girl who made my appointment at the desk, however, was unenthusiastic and as other reviews have mentioned it was generally a poor customer service experience. It was like she didn't really want me to be there, or to be there herself!
Although somewhat skeptical after this, I kept my appointment as I was short on time and headed to the salon first thing this morning.
Louise was very sweet and chatty. She grabbed a colour book and had a long chat to me about the colour I wanted, and also consulted with a colleague. This was a nice touch as it felt like I'd had two professional opinions, and we all agreed on the colour. She was also very receptive to the photo I showed her of the cut I wanted, and maintained a postitive 'can do' attitude.
We bonded over cats.
The colour was fantastic, exactly what I was hoping for. It suits my skin tone and looks incredibly natural. Despite going much shorter with my cut there was no drama, just careful, confident cutting.
I walked out of the salon extremely pleased, for a reasonable price too considering the salon is in the centre of Cambridge.
Though I am only visiting the area, I would certainly go back to see Louise if I ever pass by this way again.
The only downfall was the initial customer service I experienced when I first came in to book. This was in stark contrast to the excellent care and attention I was given during my actual appointment.
Thank you Louise, you're a star :)

Last year, I had surgery for a brain tumour and am being treated for cancer. This has caused not only scalp sensitivity but also the hair to thin and fall out, in varying degrees at different stages. On three occasions, I have had outstanding and gentle service at Directors (in this case from Amber), who, suggesting quiet times in the salon for privacy, took the time to find out my concerns and what I wanted and provided advice and creative solutions to the very little hair that I have, not only in terms of style but also colouring.

Many cancer patients choose to shave their heads and/or to wear wigs. Others like me choose to work with the little hair that they have. Directors helped me to feel feminine again.

Worst hair colouring I’ve ever had. I asked for my balayage to be a tiny bit brightened and she turnt me a yellow blonde all over which I didn’t want and that’s not what a balayage should look like. Within 24 hours I had to put 2 boxes of dye on my hair as it was that embarrassing. When contacting Harriet she said I could come in 4 days later which was not good enough as she knew I had an event.
When asked the staff would not refund me and said a manager would call me 3 weeks down the line and still no call.
Don’t waste your time or money.
