You can’t knock the quality and skill of the technicians at rush - I have always had lovely cuts and colours here. HOWEVER sadly they are a PROFIT BEFORE CUSTOMER business. I had a very poor experience here today (Saturday 19th Feb). I called up to let them know that my daughter had a stomach bug and had been throwing up all night and I needed to rearrange my appointment today. I was told that as it was within 24 hours of the appointment I would now be charged a £25 cancellation fee. I accept fully a cancellation fee if I choose to cancel willingly or just decided I wanted to do something else that evening but to be charged because my daughter was sick and I had no childcare as a result of that did not sit right with me. Not to mention I do not have £25 just to throw away.

The responses from staff were ‘I understand but it’s policy’. I asked to speak to the manager and again was told it was policy. This manager then spoke with the manager of the franchise Ruth who I presume they relayed my situation too. The outcome was that Ruth had decided that I had accepted the terms and conditions and had to pay the fee. (From reading the terms and conditions this does not cover this matter sufficiently at all.)

I queried the FAQ from the website that in an emergency situation if you could not attend your appointment to call the friendly local team and they will help. Well I definitely was not being provided with any kind of help!!!

Finally having put up another fuss and quoting the website FAQ above I was told that Ruth had decided I did not have to pay the cancellation fee on this occasion however ‘next time I cancelled I would have to’!!! ( I would like to point out I rarely, if ever, have cancelled my hair appointments as only have about 2 a year!) I said - ‘so if one day my child is sick and I cannot make my appointment you will charge me a cancellation fee again?’ To which they said yes!

Needless to say I won’t be going to this salon again as they have completely lost my respect. It is clear they put profit above customer care. The fact that the staff I spoke to on the phone also did not make me feel well treated was another warning sign not to return there. This is no way to treat a loyal customer who has been attending rush for a number of years and, despite having moved out of the area, still travels to go here. If I was in their position I would have been really Embarrassed that I was charging a customer to stay at home and look after her sick daughter.

In response to the reply : I have cancelled once ever with you before Christmas and explained that this was because I could not afford it due to maternity leave ( it had been booked in for months due to your loyalty scheme requiring me to do so). I said I would rebook in the new year which I did. I do not cancel lightly and respect the work that hair stylists do completely. I have been a loyal customer and expect the same loyalty and respect from my hairdressers. I did not receive this yesterday nor have i received it in your response which seems to imply that I regularly cancel and am shortsighted and unable to comprehend how it must feel for a hairdresser to have a pay cut. Neither of which is true and is quite rude of you. I always treat people with care and consideration which is why I was so shocked that the treatment I received was so impersonal.

Such a lovely Salon. The team are all so nice and Johnny is super talented, his colour technique is innovative and makes such a difference. Relaxing atmosphere, and I leave feeling amazing with fresh hair with my blow dry lasting days, would highly recommend 😁

A good salon, but not if you need to reschedule through no fault of your own. I've always enjoyed going to this salon and had lovely cuts with Chloe. As a new mum I thought I would treat myself for the first time in 4 months since my baby was born. I felt ready to leave the baby for an hour with his Daddy whilst I went to have some me time but unfortunately as he works for the police he got called into work at 3am in the morning and wasn't home in time for my morning appointment. Whilst I understand why the cancellation policy fee is there and that the stylist would have potentially lost money, it also left me as a customer feeling pretty upset. As an existing customer it would have been nice to have this one occasion waived (I can completely understand multiple occurrences justifying a charge). In that instance I would have felt like a valued customer and not had any issues continuing to give Rush my business. It is the absence of discretion which is frustrating, as I've now been penalised for not being able to attend an appointment due to circumstances I had no control over. The company policy seems a but flawed in that it now makes me want to take my business elsewhere when otherwise I would have happily continued to use Rush and continued to have given them my business in future.

If you can 100% guarantee you won't need to reschedule your appointment with less than 24 hours notice then go ahead and book as they've always been great in every other respect.

They are closed - seemingly permanently and there is no information. We were there this last Monday and my mother has an appointment next Monday but we have not received an email or anything. All the furniture is moved out. Ellie did a great job and we were very happy with the service. So sorry to see them closed.

Time after time Ruth at Rush hits it out of the park with my cut, the style stays as my hair grows which is the sign of a skilled hairdresser. I get so many compliments and am always recommending this modern, friendly and welcoming salon. Staff are super smiley and genuine and service is always on point. I can’t recommend enough!

Ellie did a really lovely job on my highlights and I'm really pleased with them. I was thinking about something different and helped me come up with a style that would suit me and I absolutely love it. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming making the whole experience enjoyable. This was my 2nd visit but they will now have a regular in me! Also always a bonus when you get coffee and a Biscoff biscuit! Looking forward to my next visit.

My first appointment at Rush Haywards Heath was brilliant. Johnny was so knowledgeable about balayage and explained the whole process as he was doing it. He made me feel so comfortable and I am beyond happy with my hair, it is the best hair I have ever had! The salon was clean and all the staff were friendly and made me feel relaxed and welcome. 10/10 will definitely go back again.
