Fab
I booked by Facebook initially because that is an option on their page, then I called the day before my appointment to confirm, and it turned out it was not and the person on the phone said to come in that day for a dye test, also making it sound like they'd fix it so I had the appointment. When I went in I waited for about half an hour just to be told that my appointment the next day would not be going forward and that I'd have to book another date (the lady on the phone had asked for my contact details, and I had obliged so when she didn't message to let me know instead of letting me come all the way in, I was quite peeved).
While I was frustrated with this, and my family and friends said not to go forth with the appointment I decided to give them a second chance and go in, a decision I regretted.
Minor-ish criticisms, that would have been OK if only one occured:
My hair was randomly straightened at the end, even though I usually go for curls (this thing was on me, I'll take that bullet).
The dye style was not what I asked for, and the colour wasn't quite either.
As a student I found it to be very pricey.
My hairdresser left the salon for a while half way through and returned a while later.
Hardcore dealbreakers:
I left with split/wirey ends.
The hairdresser at the basin was really rough - I've had a good old go at my hair before, so this is not just me being picky - I was literally squirming in my seat and scrunching up my face in pain, it was at the basin that I decided I was never going back to the Hair Lounge Skewen.
I do NOT recommend going to the Hair Lounge in Skewen.
What I will say they had going for them is:
Most of them seemed to have a fun and friendly dynamic with customers (I don't know if mine was just shy, which I understand, as a fellow shy person but didn't really help my experience)
They had some awards in the shop (the only one I could see the date on was 2017 though).
Clean and nice aesthetic apart from the occasional runway lock of hair on the floor.
Most of them wore masks properly (but some slipped off and weren't corrected).
They seem to be taking COVID-19 measures seriously- with masks and screens.
Though these things did not make up in any way shape or form for my experience, I think it's important to give credit where credit is due.
