I had a haircut & perm on 25/10 and they chemically damaged my hair.
The perm seemed fine when I left. I waited 3 days but it pretty much went away after the first wash. Or better: some sections were straight, some wavy. A mess!
Soul Hair offered to try and fix my hair with a treatment, which I appreciated. The stylists were nice, and one of them fixed my haircut too.
However, the treatment just wasn’t working. Vitina, the manager, kept telling me to go back “one last time”, which turned out to be extremely time consuming. Still, my hair would go back to that new state after washing it.
So, since it clearly wasn’t working, I requested a refund for the perm. At this stage, I was happy to pay for the haircut because I felt they had at least tried to fix the initial problem, and I thought I could just get it fixed elsewhere.
When I went to a different salon, however, they tested my hair (at SH, they never did) and told me they couldn't perm it because it had been chemically damaged: the last part had been conveniently left out by Vitina.
I’m now stuck with horrible hair for a year as I'll have to wait until the "permed" section grows long enough to be cut off AND I’m gonna have to pay for a bonding treatment (at the 2nd salon, as I’ll never let SH touch my hair again) to help it get healthy again after the chemical damage.
I sent SH an email to give them a SECOND chance to fix this: given the long-term chemical damage to my hair, I now felt I was owed a full refund & compensation (perm, haircut, & covering the treatment to repair the damage they caused, even though according to sollicitors I’d be entitled to +£3000 in compensation for damaged hair).
This was on 12/11! I sent follow-ups and tried to call to speak to Vitina, but I kept being given conflicting information by the staff.
I only got a call today (after specifically requesting a WRITTEN reply)
NOT ONCE has she apologised for the chemical damaged her salon caused to my hair! Instead, she said the other salon didn't know what they’re talking about & it was my fault for not accepting the treatment they offered me for free.
I DID accept their treatment… until it was obvious it wasn’t working! But also, of course I wouldn’t let them touch my hair again, by that point: they had already chemically damaged it and clearly didn't know how to fix!
I tried to explain why I felt I was owed compensation, but Vitina told me she didn’t wanna have an argument over the phone (even though I wasn’t shouting or being disrespectful) and that I was either gonna give her my details for the perm refund right there and then or this was gonna get sorted another time.
I asked her how much money she was gonna send me.
VITINA LITERALLY IGNORED ME and kept saying “What’s your sort code?” whenever I asked her.
“Please, can you tell me how much money you’re going to send me?
“What’s your sort code?”
… three times!
NEVER have I felt so insulted and humiliated! If that’s the way she deals with complaints, I can totally see why she’d rather avoid a written reply for accountability.
I was about to start crying after being treated so poorly, so I just gave her my bank details but did mention I would have escalated this if I was only gonna get the refund for the perm.
I gave them 3 chances to fix this properly before writing this review, but I don’t think ANYONE deserves to go through what SH put me through, nor to be treated the way Vitina treated me.
I can’t stress this enough: Vitina has been an absolute nightmare to deal with, and her salon has caused me a ridiculous amount of stress.
I was left in tears after the way she spoke to me and literally ignored or talked over me when I was asking her specific questions. I mean, who does that to a customer who went through all that?!
Not only am I now stuck with damaged hair for at least a year, but she hasn’t given me proper compensation (beyond the perm itself) nor has she apologised ONCE for any of this.
Tony and Guy in Chester can do much better whilst actually being caring and listening to the client.
