Good value on key cutting and this traditional hardware store also had what I needed on another recent occasion, saving me a much longer trip in the car. Prices are not too bad either and it is well worth shopping here, but if I am being completely honest, you shouldn't expect bright lights, air conditioning, fancy shelving or the same comprehensive range of products that you would find at a DIY superstore.

Been shopping here since 1958 when my mum sent me to buy paraffin for our heater. Great range of items, keys cut, foam cut to size and friendly helpful staff. Cheaper than B&Q.

Really upset my elderly Mother when she came in to ask for a part for her toilet. Man was very rude to her claiming 'I don't know what you're on about so I can't help'. I'd told her to try this shop as it's local and I assumed they'd be nice and helpful. Apparently not, disappointing.

Really genuine guy, doesn't just push for a sale. Also super helpful and had such a range of products at a great price. Got a suggestion that some wing toggles might work for a shelf we had some trouble with from IKEA in our new build with strange walls. Worked great!

Fantastic range of goods. Great service. One of the few shops where when the wholesale price comes down, so does the price on the shelves. I highly recommend this business - real old school.

An absolute gem! I went there searching for guidance in getting soil for my newly gained hobby. The lady and the gentleman, on both occasions, were VERY helpful and kind! I got the soil I needed, now I hope they will have soil for Orchids soon too! Will definitely be back and I definitely recommend! They definitely know what they are doing and are always interested in researching further on the go in order to make sure you will get exactly what you need!! THANK YOU for being so kind and helpful!! :)

great little shop. very friendly staff. might be a bit dirty looking and hard to find stuff. but ask and they will show u were it is.

Its been there for as long as i can remember and im in my 60's and cheaper better quality items than the big DIY shops.

Sometimes they might tell u u can get the same thing elsewhere cheaper rather than trying to get u to buy from them lol. Like a step ladder they said it will be cheaper at wilko but found theirs was better quality than wilko and only a bit more expensive and not as far to carry home so bought theirs instead of the wilko one.

Even during the lockdown they stayed open but didnt allow anyone in the shop and served u at the door. or ring them and tell them what u need and they will get it ready and hand it to u at the door.

1 review said they were a key worker and the staff was rude. well think again about that as ive found key workers r the rudest and push in line to get served 1st and most dont even wear masks and complain about others not wearing them.

Ive bought face masks from this shop and they were far better than the ones issued to the NHS. NHS masks r only 10% effective the masks from this shop r about 60% effective.

It's worth shopping here just for the experience - it's like stepping back in time. It's also my "go to" hardware shop for whenever I have a quirky problem to solve. Need a replacement cheesewire for a cheese cutter? Sorted! Need advice on what sort of oil to use on wood? Sorted!
