A brilliant family day out for a very reasonable price. We were lucky enough to be in the area when the steam trains were on and took our 1 and 4 year old. The actual train ride didn't last long but the interactive parts of helping to change the signals made up for that. The stop at their museum was also excellent with different activities and trains that you can stand on and lots of buttons to press. And because the tickets lasted all day we got to go on twice. Both the kids really enjoyed this activity and so did myself and me husband. Will definitely visit here again.

Nice little train ride then to the train museum. Also the opportunity to go on another miniature train tide. In all takes about an hour. Very pleasant helpful staff.

A fabulous day out, the grandchildren loved riding both the steam train and the miniature and climbing in the engines. The staff were enthusiastic and friendly. Well worth the money

Lovely railway..Great prices.. . Great old station with cafe and gift shop. Lovely snacks... Ladies in gift shop very helpful and knowledgeable... They have several different engines, some steam some diesel.. They drive take you along the tracks for a distance, then they bring the engine back to front of train then a bit further down the track they stop at a train museum which is really great. It tells the history about the Area. Porthmadog. How it came about and how the trains were used in old times. There is plenty to do for adults and children.. There is also a very small train you can ride around around on out side at this museum.. Very interesting, plenty of old train engines and carriages to see. This train ride was worth every penny. My 8 year old grandson and us all loved it... You can ride on it all day with your one ticket...

Very friendly small heritage railway that's great for the kids. Please don't get it mixed up with the Welsh Highland Railway - the track at the Welsh Highland HERITAGE Railway is very short, with the museum that you stop at being the main feature. The museum is interesting for railway enthusiasts & has plenty to keep children entertained (including a miniature ride on railway). The volunteers are brilliant - friendly, helpful & very patient with children. The cafe is very good too & probably serves the best breakfast in Porthmadog.

We had such a lovely time here with the family. The train operators are so friendly and very knowledgeable. It's a great place for kids, the museum has lots of free activities to do, and you can also ride a miniature locomotive. Thanks so much for a great time!

Awesome visit to Welsh Highland Railway.
We booked the woodlands wonderer which was around 3hrs for £25pp. I feel this was good value but would’ve loved to have gone a bit further on the line!
There weren’t any set rules on where you sit so we managed to get a private cabin with squishy seats, we were worried this was reserved but no one mentioned it so we stayed.
I even found a gluten free egg sandwich in the cage before we left which was awesome!
Overall lovely day out and would definitely go back 🙌
