I had the displeasure of doing a little supply teaching at Vyners School. I found that whilst Vyners School claims to have high standards of behaviour and discipline; in reality the policies on behaviour are not implemented. For example I was told by the Cover Manager that the pupils were not allowed to use their mobile phones or listen to music around the school under ANY circumstances. However, I began my first day with an art lesson and what did I see??.....many of the pupils in the class standing around listening to music on their mobile phones, and I was made aware by the pupils that this is what they do during a typical art lesson!

This school gives lip service to maintaining standards of behaviour in the classroom.

Horrible school went for a short time. Students learnt/listened to nothing
Teachers didn't teach the children anything and when they rarely did it was KS2 learning. Glad to be out. Are way too strict on things that have no disruption to learning and are way too loose on things that are going to affect.

As a student for 7 years, Vyners was a school where I was able to develop academically and meet lots of new friends. There were always lots of after school clubs to get involved in and a large support network for students. Most notably during my last two years at the school (2011-2013) a lot of investment in the facilities and the vision of creating a dynamic school environment were really starting to take shape which shows the commitment the school and staff have.

I attended Vyners for seven years and remember my time there with a smile. It was always such a friendly and supportive environment, with the teachers going above and beyond expectations and alongside an abundant supply of extra-curricular activities to get involved in, the school was a wonderful community. I think the immense turn-out of alumni at the school's 50th anniversary really said it all; Vyners instills a sense of pride within its students which they never forget. I made friends for life there and know that many others feel the same.

Today, with my business Immersive Theatres, I delivered a 7m digital planetarium experience to all 540 Year 7-9 pupils at Vyners School. I was warmly welcomed by the teacher and found the hall prepared just as I had requested. The day was well organised with all groups arriving on time. The excited students enjoyed learning the latest about Mars exploration as well as travelling through the Solar System across the galaxy all the way to the edge of the known Universe. Evening performances were also held for the public, where visitors peered up at the current night sky and learned about astronauts and the search for life on other worlds. Thank you Vyners School for a very pleasant visit.
