Such a shame there is nothing left but a motte.
The place is sat the middle of an housing area and as such is a litter fest of beer cans, plastic bottles and crisp wrappers.

I felt no sense of history, just sadness that the place is nothing but a teen dumping ground.

Good example of surviving Ring and Bailey earthworks, probably 12th Century.
Parking generally available (free) on Market Square and free access to site.

Easily accessible from nearby road where there is limited free parking. The dogs loved running around the earthworks.
