Giorgos Seferis was a Greek poet , diplomat . Born March 13 , 1900 Urla , Ottoman Empire . He wrote many beautiful verses that show the influence od the ancient Greek such as Homer and Euripides . He was one od the most important Greek poets od the 20th century , and a Nobel laureate . He was a career diplomat in the Greek Forein Service , culminating in his appointment as Ambassador to the UK , a post which he held from 1957 to 1962 . He died September 20 , 1971 Athens , Greece .
