There is not a hudge amount to see here. There are minor remains here. There is no toilets (but you wouldn't expect it from a smaller National Trust). I wouldn't have liked to see an information boards about the castle (that was). There are nice views out over the Derbyshire countryside. The flowers are nice at different times of the year. There is no parking but you can park on the street for free near by. To get to the castle there are some steps which may be unsuitable for a pram or pushchair. If you are already in the area it may be worth a visit. 🏰

Don't bother driving any distance to see Duffield Castle. If you're passing, why not kill 10 minutes? Would be good if there was an information board rather than the one suggesting you use your imagination.

Views from the castle remains are nice.

Was really excited to visit this site however not much to see to be honest, it's literally just an old site of a castle good to see a location of where if would of been but parking isn't to great and the walk up can be slippery in the wet. Could have a nice picnic in the sun though as plenty of grass around.

Lovely ruins very pieceful and tidy, we did have to get the full history of the castle from a local as there isn't too much at the ruins itself. We visited here as a place of interest after getting on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway's steam train. Great if you're passing but I'm glad I didn't travel 30+ minutes to visit just these ruins.

I wish I had read some reviews before visiting! We went to Duffield Castle prepared for a long walk and when we got there realised it was very small and there really isn't much to see! I have given 4 stars because we had a good time laughing at the fact we had come prepared for a hike and that wasn't possible! Maybe worth a look if your passing but I wouldn't make a long journey for this one!

Apart from a sign telling you to bring your imagination, this is just a staircase to a patch of grass with a brick outline of a demolished room. This could have been anything - there's no information board.

Don't come expecting any walks around the grounds of a demolished castle, either - the old site is now overwhelmed by private residential properties. Twenty seconds walk from the brick square and you're looking at someone's back garden.

(EDIT: Some of the other photos here seen to include a nice view. On our visit it was pleasantly overgrown and there were no views.)

If you've driven here, it's just a short extra drive to Kedlestone Hall, a much more complete and interesting National Trust property with a small number of pleasant riverside and woodland walks.

The only item of note in Duffield Castle is a little stone hemisphere that goes equally unexplained: apparently it's a capped well. Naturally, I smelled the well, and can report that the fragrance was underwhelming.

Bringing your imagination is an understatement. Nothing really to see. Waste of time

I'm not sure why this place is in the National Trust as there's virtually nothing there. Should've read the reviews before driving 30 mins to see nothing but some stairs and a patch of grass with not even a board of proper information. It may be a good hiding place for locals but if you're an NT enthusiast, tjis place isn't for you.
