A medieval gate since the 1200s. Now it’s the entrance towards the Norwich cathedral and the school.

A photogenic medieval gate named after King Ethelbert of the East Angles. Who supposedly lost his life to the machinations of a scheming queen.

It replaces an earlier structure destroyed when tensions between local monks and townsfolk turned riotous.

Nowadays, the gate seems peaceable enough.

I don't know what criteria is in a gate but it's still standing even after all these years and it's really a beauty.

I am so lucky living next to norridge cathedral. I spend quite a lot of time in there. Such a beautiful place. I love to sit in the cloisters with a cup of coffee, enjoying the quiet peacefulness had to explain just a wonderful place to be

Great Historical gate, I walk through there with my Dog when coming back from my folks, just inside Cathedral Close there is the Statue of the GREAT Wellington who beat Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo, pretty awesome

As gates go, pretty impressive. Imagine this huge erection at the end of your driveway! Could be turned into an electric gate, or employ a hunchback to do the honours of swinging open its massive gape. When it rains, tourists huddle beneath it as if their faces would melt if water got on them, trapped like sheep between rain and rain. Usual chatter about how heavy the rain is and when it may or may not stop, ensue. What wet fun they miss, huddled beneath old bricks.
