Denbigh Friary

Locked up during published opening hours, although you can see pretty much see everything from the gate.

Denbigh Friary situated at Townsend in Denbigh is an unsung attraction on Denbigh's historical scene. You have to know it's there, there is not that much to see, and you need a key (from the castle?) to get past a gate into the monument. Reportedly, a tunnel runs from the bottom of the well at the friary to Denbigh Castle via a couple of stops. Having lived in the vicinity for several years it was a surprise to discover its existence, but I am glad for the acquaintance.

A reminder of Britain's rich religious history. Though not extensive, the ruins of the friary indicate something of Denbigh's medieval heritage. Access is via a locked gate; I had to Google various websites to find that keys are kept at the town library and Green Onion Café. The agile may prefer simply to scale the gate!

Interesting. A little hard to find in the rain. Just the outline of the building etc. Lovely house next door for rent.

Little known Friary not well signposted but although not much left to see well worth a look up if in the area especially for history buffs

Lovely old ruin, but unsignposted and not a lot to see.
