I ordered a complete Twinstar package from these guys. I also ordered a replacement prop for it as I managed to smash one whilst bench testing the engines (don’t ask!) Their products are competitively priced, all packed really well too. BUT the best thing is how quick they send stuff out! I live in the north of Scotland and they are based in Basingstoke, I ordered the props at about 3pm and they were with me the next day! Literally no other retailer has managed that!

Ordered solder containing lead. Received unleaded solder despite no such product on the 4-Max website!! I complained and eventually received leaded solder. But, not a word of explanation or apology. The delivery cost of £5.99 for a small soldering Iron, a spare tip and cleaner, and 12g of solder, was a bit steep. Appallingly sloppy and indifferent service.
PS. 4-Max do not take credit card payments directly, only through PayPay. I’m told this negates section 75 protection.

I returned goods two weeks ago I’d purchased on the internet from 4-Max Models Ltd. George Ingemar Worley, 56, who is listed at Companies House as a one-man company director, stated in email he would only refund 90% of the value – usually it’s 80% after making a “20% re-stocking charge”!! However, I’ve still not received any refund whatsoever.

Such deductions are in serious breach of ‘The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013’, which state goods can be returned within 14 days and a FULL refund (100%) must be given including delivery cost and such refunds must occur within 14 days. No reason need be given for a return of goods, although in my case I did give the reason for the return – namely, failure by 4-Max Models Ltd to properly describe the item purchased. Awful tacky looking and unhelpful website.

Because I’ve had no refund within 14 days as required by law, I allege 4-Max Models Ltd is trading unlawfully. Misappropriation of funds rightfully belonging to another is theft. In addition, I’ve now independently determined that the delivery costs charged by 4-Max Models Ltd were unreasonably excessive. Businesses that trade unlawfully are not acting in the public interest and should rightfully be subjected to due process – both civil and criminal.

Hence, complaints have been filed with Hampshire Trading Standards to cause 4-Max Models Ltd to ‘cease and desist’ its unlawful practice of deducting money from retuned goods refunds and to repay all previous customer that did not get a full refund plus interest.

In addition, a Pre-Action Notice in accordance with County Court Civil Procedure Rules has been served on 4-Max Models Ltd (a previous letter not responded to) requiring a full refund be made by 16 July 2020, otherwise court proceedings will be issued forthwith.

Absolutely appalling service and business standards. Both are totally unacceptable.

PS. If you have returned items to 4-Max Models Ltd and did not get a full refund – including the shipping cost - you should file a complaint to Hampshire Trading Standards and also assert your consumer rights directly with 4-Max Models Ltd to restore the unlawful appropriation of your hard earned money plus interest at the County Court rate of 8% per annum.

UPDATE:
Within about an hour of serving the pre-action notice I received the full amount of the refund. Evidently, George Worley knew he had done wrong.
I trust he will similarly return the monies he has taken from others.

Been trying to contact 4max for 2weeks to get a order In for collection. Wouldn't pick up the phone, sent an email. Email never answered and I sent that email 20th October 2022. Now the kit I've been trying to buy has gone out of stock, which indicates he is still selling stuff ??

I really don't wanna pay £10 portage when it's 10minutes drive from my residence.

I've orded from 4max before and he was great but this experience has upset me abit due to wasted time. I hope he can fix the communication issues.

Often thought you can judge a company by the way they react when things don't go quite right.
I bought a motor from 4max and it didn't run properly; a wire wasn't connected.
I rang and discussed it and the motor was replaced without quibble within days. Excellent service!

Ordered the recommended set-up for the Peter Miller Fournier RF4 very late on Wednesday evening, appeared at my door at 8.30am on Friday morning.

Having just bought an aeroplane kit from 4-Max Models when it arrived unfortunately it had a damaged wing. I contacted George at 4-Max who speedily solved the problem with a replacement. Excellent service and would certainly recommend 4-Max . Thanks.
