This cottage has a great location and lovely views. However, we encountered numerous issues which marred enjoyment of our stay and ultimately led to us not staying a full week including:
- many areas in the cottage seem to have missed the attentions of the cleaner (see photos of accumulated cobwebs), we found the dining table to be very sticky in places, again needing to be cleaned before use, we found putting clothing into the bedside cabinets simply led to our clothes removing the accumulated dust from that surface (a process which I would have thought the cleaner should have undertaken prior to our arrival. They do have an 8-hour window for turning the cottage around between guests, so I would think the opportunity to clean properly is there);
- we found the kitchen to be under-equipped for making family meals;
- some of the kitchen equipment provided was in a poor and/or dirty state (see frying pan photo), this included an oven tray which appeared to not have been cleaned following its previous use, brown rings in many mugs, table knives/forks with food stuck to them, drinking glasses which needed to be washed before use;
- the wooden boards outside the back door of the cottage are soft and cracked under normal usage by an 80-85 kg adult walking on them;
- what appears to be a broken parasol base was left lying in a seating area to the front of the cottage (see photo);
- an unwelcome, small, 4-legged, furry creature appeared in the cottage.

The owner did respond to some of our observations, which we provided on return from our holiday via the agent's feedback process.

The owner advises that the bridge, which is beyond the boards by the back door, is not unsafe as there is some concrete below and only a very small amount of rotting wood.

The owner advises there is no evidence of rodents in the property and notes it could have entered when the door was open.

The poor state of cleanliness appears to have been brought to the owner's attention many times (see published feedback on Sykes' cottages) apparently without being resolved.

I was a bit surprised that the mattress protectors weren't to be removed from the beds; I'd stripped them prior to departure assuming they would get washed between guests, but returned them on the beds as per the cottage instructions. Perhaps they do get washed, and are collected separately from the rest of the laundry.

All in all, we were left with the impression that the owner isn't interested in taking feedback on board, even when similar issues (e.g. lack of cleanliness, condition of the wooden boards) have been independently noted by multiple guests.

Other than that, the views are nice, and the sound of the stream running down the side of the cottage is rather pleasant.

Lovely scenery and homely feel. Slightly difficult parking space but space-efficent. Room originally had multiple spiders, all gone by day 3. Overall good experience.

But the holiday let needs alot of T.L.C ..
The owner are blind to how bad the place is .
The cleaning is complete rubbish.
The place is damp and smells very damp
Checking times are the worst I have ever seen
