Liked: The new shower block with individual cubicles with shower and toilet was very private and clean. The site is safe so felt good about the girls being safe on their way to the showers. It was small so nothing was very far away which was convenient. The fire pit on our pitch and ability to buy logs and kindling packs which the warden delivered to your pitch was nice. The wardens were friendly, driving everyone to their pitch. They were helpful and told us how to walk to the beach which was nice and near. The pitches were kept in really good order, flat and no grass clippings getting everywhere which is a bonus as the showers didn’t get grassy either. There was also a small shop in reception for essentials and things for dogs and children.

Disliked: The rules about not being able to drop things off in your car to a motor home meant we ended up carrying a lot of shopping and belongings across the site to the parking area. Also the washing up sinks were outdoor with a tin roof over, the surrounding ground flooded in heavy rain. The covered area for washing up was very cobwebby/full of flies as it was right next to the cow shed.

Liked: This was our first camping trip and we were really happy with our stay. We were welcomed and shown to our pitch which was huge. We had a pitch next to the huge field where the kids could play. We had our own fire pit and purchased wood which the owners dropped off in the afternoon to everyone. The showers and toilet block was brilliant and immaculate. Not everyone mopped after themselves but that’s down to individuals, not the owners.
Our children loved it and we ventured out to the beach which was so quiet and stunning.
We walked down the beach to seascale to the play area and for ice cream.
There isn’t much locally to venture to without driving but we stayed for 3 nights and mainly chilled out.
Phone signals were poor but we personally didn’t mind as we were enjoying the break.
The immediate area was quiet and we were shocked there was no close by pubs or restaurants but we enjoyed it.
Would definitely stay again!

Liked: The organisation and staff made this place for us. The wardens around site and in the shop were so chatty and friendly. The little shop was a massive perk, stocking all the things that you forget for your trip, in our case: washing up liquid and a bucket and spade. The weather was unusually hot during our 4 night tent stay so the cold drinks available to purchase were a life saver.

The location was perfect with the beach a short drive or walk away. Plenty of walks with beautiful views.

Whilst the area is quiet with not much around we wished that we had come more prepared with food for the length of our trip as the closest shops were Co Op & Spar so we spent a fortune on food. However this isn’t a reflection of the campsite.

All in all a lovely stay in a great location with lots to do. We will be back :)

Disliked: The pitches were a little closer together compared to what we have been to before. But all still regulating with fire safety standards. We made use of the 2 closest shower and toilet blocks to us which I feel could have been cleaned more frequently. They were heavily used so the smell wasn’t very pleasant at times and the floors were wet and dirty.

Liked: Friendly welcome by helpful polite staff
Chilled, quiet site with clean facilities
Pitched size marked out and “rules” explained
Beautiful beaches, hill's and lakes close by

Disliked: Uncomfortable with the unisex toilets preferred to use the newer cubicles for showering

Liked: It was a nice quiet site , well run and I liked the private bathrooms. We liked the feature of there being a spare field where you can walk your dogs. It is also only half an hour from Scarfell pike. Use of a fridge and freezer on site is very handy and the fire pit that each pitch has is a nice touch. The beach is only a 20 min walk or 5 mins in the car. There is a lovely well stocked shop on site, considering a real lack of shops in the area. The kids enjoyed seeing the animal on site.
