We had booked to stay in this lovely property but unfortunately due to current circumstances it is unlikely to happen and we were very much looking forward to it. Very disappointing experience however with Sykes. During the COVID19 pandemic, we are expected to pay our remaining fee 7weeks in advance of the trip at a time of uncertainty, not knowing what restrictions will be at our date of travel or if we can even get a ferry over. There is no refund option even during these unprecedented times, even though other companies like AIRBNB have given refunds To us for other accommodation during our planned trip.
The only option we are given is to amend our dates which is not possible due to work and schooling, not to mention personal loss of income as a result of the pandemic.
If Sykes customers cancel, we lose our deposit. But according to their own website, if property owners cancel, there is no penalisation for them. And yet, customers are hidden and anonymous, with Sykes customer service refusing to give us contact information.
If the owner cancels the booking from their end, or agrees to get in touch with us to come to a solution, I will remove this review as my experience will have changed. My experience at this point is that I’m being forced to pay for something the government have ruled I’m not allowed to do.
Our booking is 17th-24thJuly, 2020 - I hope to hear from the property owner soon - hoping they have more humanity than the larger corporation of Sykes Cottages.

Thus is an amazing place and with amazing views and a brilliant hot tub that we especially loved. It's a really homely place with lots to do. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect for a weekend with the girls: beautiful house, lovely hot tub + gorgeous scenery. A quick phone call before heading off for lunch at the pub will avoid any disappointment - not a problem.

I cannot recommend this place enough- a little slice of heaven! The views are gorgeous, the house is amazing and huge (looks so much better in real life than the photos!) and the owner is an absolute gem, so lovely. We went as a group of girls and had the most wonderful time, we're already thinking about the next time we can come and stay!

Lovely and secluded, we enjoyed the house and especially the location. Great for watching buzzards and red kites. Get organised with bookings during peak times if you want to dine out as pubs a few and far between unless you head to the lovely Ludlow.
