Gilfach Cottage, what an amazing find. Even getting there is a mini adventure, down the steep and muddy rutted farm track, then into Gilfach Farm, to be met by Hugh and his very friendly Labrador, Oscar. The first thing you see is fields, glorious green fields filled with horses and sheep. Then Hugh leads you to a very unassuming door. The door opens and you step into the most beautiful and well equipped barn conversion you have ever seen. This is no holiday let, this looks more like someone has opened their home to you for the week. It's cosy, beautifully decorated, and those exposed beams are exquisite. Just watch your head if you're more than 5'8 tall. I'm 5'11, and yes I managed to banged my head a few times. The bedrooms are simple, and beautiful, the beds are incredibly comfortable. Looking out of the front door, and seeing rolling hills, and hearing nothing but the occasional whining of horses, bleating sheep, and birds singing, is the perfect tonic to relieve the stress of the city. Our only regret is that we could not have stayed longer.

Just finished a lovely holiday in the Brecon Beacons with the help of Gilfach Farm.

Excellent accommodation, friendly host (aswell as Oscar), great facilities and the night sky is incredible if you stay up long enough!

Couldn't have asked for anything for better! secluded, a 2 mile walk to the nearest shop and very easy to get too.

Will be coming back very soon and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet get away.

Thanks Hugh!

It's a very warm amd nice place. The owner is friendly and has a welcoming dog. We are not very used to with dogs otherwise we would have explored the farm a bit more.

Just loved staying in the Barn Loft with amazing stargazing that night.

I have animals nearby and unexpectedly needed to stay on hand in the Barn Loft which was a really comfortable and lovely place to stay. Hugh & Amanda work really hard to make sure you have every comfort and the farm accommodation is all great. What I hadn't realised was the lovely views of the stars from the loft so you can stargaze from bed! There is even a barbeque hut that is not dissimilar to a sauna hut with a barbecue in the centre that you can hire should you want a fun dinner, or a number of great places to eat or takeaway from nearby.

You can also walk around the 60 acres, with views of Pen y Fan and the Beacons, plus it is a dog-friendly place to stay. Love it!

Loved the place, the hosting and everything else.. Last year me and my boyfriend went to Gilfach Farm for a couple of days and it was such a nice/relaxing trip we had!
I Miss Oscar (the cutest dog ever) coming to our door every day greeting us and walking around the florests with us too. What a peaceful place to go!
Thank you Hugh so much for everything, we really want to go back soon!
