We had a guys / boys adventure weekend from the 15th June and used Hen Hafod as our base. We did the zip wire velocity and zip caverns on the Saturday . On the Sunday we went white water rafting then canyoning both of which were near Bala .The cottage was a great base and the boys loved us driving through the ford ( there is a bridge for those that don't have 4x4 but not as exciting ) It was good for the boys to see the animals around the working farm and the country walks straight from the door. The highlight being an owl which landed right next to us - fab to see one in the wild. One to note is I was the only one with a phone signal which was EE so for people who like the quiet it's great !!! . If you like a place to chill out after a hard days adventure then you'll love the cottage. The owner was so helpful in questions we had and so nice to meet her when they came to tend the animals. We would recommend this as a base for any activities and visiting places of interest all of which are not to far away and we would go back again Andy C

l first visited this cottage 20 years ago and this is the only place l have stayed since. Can't recommend it highly enough for a most peaceful, relaxing and cosy holiday with my daughter and 3 dogs. We always receive a warm welcome and have the whole place to ourselves. Heaven. As soon as you turn off the main road onto the track up the hill to the cottage you will know you are in for a treat. No neighbours, no noise, just amazing views and the sound of the stream, the sheep and the owl. Even the rain doesn't spoil this place, just makes it even better! Truly a perfect place to stay.

The cottage was so much more than we thought. Large spacious, everything you need for a real good holiday. Views excellent. Very nice owners who made us all very welcome.

I had to lay 2 mattresses on top of each other to still be able to sleep comfortably. The shower, bathroom and toilet, .... there are no words for that. On various sites it is stated that the electricity is included but you have to pay extra for it. There is only 1 positive point and that is the location and tranquility but that is just the only one. In other words, we are very sorry that we have been there for a week. They absolutely do not see us again.

Very peaceful, quiet location, well equipped kitchen with everything you need, 3 fantastic bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, dining room and a lovely beautiful living room, slate floors downstairs and fireplaces. We came away with our 2 boys, dog and outlaws, we all had the best time away, really enjoyed sharing our space with the sheep and Highland cow's. Owners were amazing and checked on us from time to time when they were here tending to the sheep. Definitely be back soon. Thank you Hen Hafod for a lovely 7 days away x

Amazing place! If you're looking to run away from city noise, this place it's perfect. You are surrounded by hills and sheep. The owners are lovely, friendly and easy to communicate. It's literally 2mins drive to Bala Lake. Cottage it's spacious, with 2 bathrooms, and 3 bedrooms.
