Interesting selection of well priced components. Team here are clearly knowledgeable and curate a stocklist made up of both classics and more under the radar kit for those seeking a real bargain. Prices are reasonable in comparison to a lot of other vintage hi-fi dealers and as a result stock turnover can be quite fast. If you see something of interest, I'd suggest you don't hang around to ensure you don't miss out!

They also buy your surplus kit and have a workshop for repairs. In the last month I have bought a number of items, all of which I have been very pleased with. Selling to them also proved hassle free and the amount offered was fair and paid instantly. My experience with buying and selling gave me confidence to entrust an item to them for repair and I look forward to enjoying it again once they've worked their magic on it.

Terrible experience with Retrotech - I sent pictures of my faulty driver via email and they said they could repair it. I posted the speaker to them and then they said it was unrepairable, but they could send me a new one instead. I didn't want this, so requested my old one to be posted back to me and I would cover all postage costs, but then they said it would cost me £20 for their time (for them to essentially just open the box) + return postage. The alternative was to purchase one of their drivers for £40 and then they'd send my old one back. So either take that option or be £30 out of pocket with my original (unrepaired) driver back...

I have now gone through another company who said they will happily repair my driver at a fair price, despite Retrotech saying it is almost unrepairable.

Edit:

What you have said about the process and prices is entirely correct and I do not dispute that. However, as a customer I felt that I was not given an option of repair and was forced down the route of purchasing a new tweeter. Over the phone I asked for a formal quote for repair and was never given one as the job was said to be too large. If this was the case, then I don't quite understand why it has been successfully repaired elsewhere at a cheaper price. If it was deemed unrepairable by them also, then I wouldn't have given a negative review.

Dealing with Retrotech takes me back to a better time and place! Old fashioned values, no BS, everything is exactly as described and packaged as though it is going to be launched from a howitzer!
I've bought a couple of items in the last few months, both delivered by UPS, and sought some advice on a unit I've owned since the 1980s. Perfect transactions and expert help.
Retrotech is always spot on.

Retrotech Audio has a great selection of hi-fi items at keen prices for those of us who are fans of high quality vintage equipment. My enquiry to Retrotech Audio was responded to quickly but there was no sales pressure, simply a desire to assist as required. I soon proceeded to purchasing my chosen item, a TEAC W-700R double cassette deck. The unit arrived very quickly next day and was packaged very well in layers of bubble-wrap and corrugated card with a polystyrene buffer within a sturdy box marked with "Fragile" tape. The sale usefully included an in-house printed manual and two phono leads. As for the unit itself, it was exactly as described and works and sounds great. Responding speedily to my enquiry, Retrotech have confirmed they will be able to offer servicing in the future, if required, which is very reassuring. I am pleased to have found Retrotech and hope they continue to find, maintain and market great hi-fi equipment for we dedicated fans.

Popped in with a 30+ year old turntable that had been given to me (Rega Planar 3) which I thought was worth trying to restore. Took into John, within two days fully restored and in brilliant working order. Now playing 40 year old vinyls! The £ small outlay was far cheaper than buying a £500 equivalent. Thoroughly recommended. Cheers guys.

Started by having my Dual record deck serviced, all very straight forward. Then bought a CD player online. Arrived with a fault, drawer not working, John actually rang out of hours to apologise and offered free return and refund if not fixable, no quibble. Ended up buying another CD player from him to save waiting on parts. Great service from a company that cares and knows its products, will keep on looking for upgrades! Guaranteed kit at ebay prices - how many other sellers would have accepted liability?

Prompt communication. I ordered a 30 year old cd player which came in immaculate condition and conscientiously packaged. Would order from Retrotech again.

Technics sl 1700 mk 11,
Further to buying a turntable and after receiving items in the past from retrotech I discovered a fault with the turntable, I contacted John (owner) and returned the item and after diagnosis and offer for refund ,I decided that after meeting me halfway with the cost of replacement part and repairing it free of charge, this was my preferred solution as the item was highly collectible and hard to find !
The repair was complicated and required specialist technical work that most companies would not touch. With the technical ability of an ex BBC engineer who works for John, the work was completed and now the turntable works as good and if not better than new.
After decades of experience in high end audio and professional music , I can not stress how honest ,reliable and trustworthy this company is,communicating clearly and providing a service that is slowly becoming extinct in a throw away society.
