Stock arrived late and damaged. Robert was not interested in resolving the complaint in a way that would rectify the problem.

Beautiful Distressed Cream & Gold Antique French Style Mirror

I purchased the above mirror for my daughter’s bedroom, which she now stays in with her husband and our little granddaughter when they come to visit us.

We chose a calm, peaceful antique cream and gold palette, and need a long, elegant mirror to finish the room off.

At 45cm wide and 160cm long, with elegantly carved, shell- like top and corners, the mirror from The Home Market felt just right.

However, on receiving it, the top carving was broken into many pieces and I was greatly saddened to have to advise The Home Market of this difficult situation.

They were absolutely brilliant, kind and courteous throughout all our dealings.

Their willingness to accept the damaged had occurred through no fault of mine, and to find a solution to the packaging problem - albeit that it appeared to be sturdy, using wooden sheeting to protect the glass side of the mirror.

It was clear to me that Robert’s words that, ‘the Packaging Department would be devastated’, were sincere.

Alice Petty at Customer Services referred me to , I believe, the head of The Home Market, Robert Way, who liaised with the Packaging Department to design an entire wooden frame which was incorporated into the packaging.

Wood suitable to the task had to be ordered before the frame was built. Great care was taken to ensure the packaging was secure, and as before, a notice was pasted to the exterior asking a those who handled this fragile package to do so as if it was their own.

We are so delighted that our new mirror has arrived safely, and are deeply touched by the kindness, thoughtfulness and care which went into delivering our mirror safely to us.

It is a leaner mirror, but I believe can be wall mounted, and as we are undecided as to whether or not to hang it, you will see a little bit of packaging in my photo.

As regards the original mirror, as the main part of the mirror is intact and the top piece can be safely removed, The Home Market are happy for me to give it to charity, supporting those who supported us when I lost my precious Mum.

It just leaves me to say my little granddaughter is above all, so delighted with, ‘her’ new mirror and loves to look at herself, smile and dance with joy as she gazes merrily at herself!
