We are on holiday and my partner had a fall on uneven ground. So we rang and got an appointment for 1pm today at minor injuries the department was easy to find everyone was very helpful. We were seen quickly xrayed quickly seen again to check no bones were broken. Then we were given clear advice what to do next. We were very pleased with the overall experience and highly recommend the way we were delt with today. Thankyou NHS

If you are required to have your blood taken and your doctor sends the request to Barry hospital ;the only way too book your appointment is to ring a booking number . With out this booking the staff will refuse to take your blood. Now comes the difficult part .I need regular blood tests it is normal to be held on your phone 30/40 minutes prior to any contract being made the service can only described as diabolical.

Had an assessment here for Adult ADHD in Aug 2021 by Consultant psychiatrist Dr Viola. Already have a diagnosis of autism and mental health difficulties but felt my diagnosis over the years hasnt been correct after learning that I was autistic on my 35th birthday. Cue my assessment and Dr Viola decides they didnt think I met the criteria for ADHD and that my current diagnosis is a "better fit".

He told me the only reason I had been asked to attend an in person appt with him was because at an MDT meeting following a initial screening via Zoom by a social worker (didnt even think social workers were qualified to assess for ADHD) they decided unanimously that I did not meet criteria and they go on to invite patients in as they think "its good practice to tell someone face to face". So basically using NHS resources ineffectively and unnecessarily when a letter or phone call would have sufficed.

On my way out of the room his closing remark to me was "youve already got one label (autism), why do you need another?"

Yes this is the conduct of a professional Consultant psychiatrist working in the mental health field and how they view patients with dual diagnoses.

Absolutely disgusting. Should be struck off and not allowed to practice again.

Working in a role like that demands a level of professionalism and if he cant conduct himself in such a manner then hes clearly in the wrong profession.

One family member had to take blood tests, and the receptionist was unkind and unprofessional. A shame that people are already worried about their health and have to deal with insensitive workers... We never had this experience back in Cardiff. I hope someone from the hospital can read this and think that even though the health system is so overwhelmed, you always need to think about patients. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

Unfortunately the telephone number provided is a dudd. After calling it many times and selecting ‘option 3’ for blood tests it rings several times then goes dead. I’ve also rang many times to wait for an operator and nobody answers! On attending the hospital I have been told that it is the wrong number! Please update your system to reflect my comments.

When for an X-ray at Barry Hospital this morning. Easy parking close to entrance. Very lovely staff. Super quick and efficient hospital. I wish all my appointments could be there.
