The rating is for the condition of the rooms in the hostel which unfortunately fall below average. Very small kitchen and rooms definitely need decorating. Location is fantastic as its by the lake at the foot of snowdon. Staff are very good. Ample parking space and a small but pleasant dining area. They have a bar and will serve breakfast or meals with advance notice. Forget about data signal on your mobile while you're there and make sure you have coins for the pay phone.

Outstanding - iconic - location, and a fascinating building with lovely grounds. The house martins flit all around, and the hostel is surrounded by unspoiled native woodland with easy access to the lakeside. Good choice of public and private bed-rooms, well-stocked library, and members kitchen with all the right equipment. Friendly and tolerant wardens. Ideal base for tourers, climbers, cyclists and walkers. Staff were very relaxed and let me charge my electric car through the window overnight.
Wifi would be helpful!

One of the best hostels I have stayed in. Comfortable beds, friendly staff and great location. I stayed here as part of a very large group and the staff coped with our schedule very well. We will be back! Some rooms have outstanding views towards the Lake Llyn Gwynant. It is in a remote location (no shops or services near, but it has a bar. It is within about a ten minute drive of the car park for the Miner's Path, one of the most popular routes to the top of Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa)..

Beautiful location overlooking Llyn Gwynant and surrounded by pleasant hiking trails. Offers meals (if booked in advance) and a self catering kitchen. Rooms are basic but clean. The beds are all rather squeaky! N.B. reception is only open 08:00-10:00 and 17:00-22:00.

This is an old fashioned gem of a hostel. A budget home from home where you can leave your boots at the door. Outstanding location, amazing views. It not one of the refurbished ones but you can see on going care and maintenance is going on. Bedroom clean, warm & just what we needed. The staff went out of their way to be lovely and helpful. Very autism friendly.

quite cold in the room as the windows weren't double glazed but the people working there were great, there was a restaurant or you could use the communal kitchen which was great and the breakfast was lovely. perfect spot right on a lake, and a windy path into the woods behind the hostel. beds also very comfy.

We loved the place very much, we had call earlier asking what time we were going to checkin, young men at the counter were very warm and friendly. Family room we had reserved was little away from the main building, it was only available in main building; there was no mobile network available anywhere here, so for planning the day, researching and social networking we were dependent on WiFi and that was only available in main building not in building where our room was, so for that had to go to main building, little inconvenient but not that bad. Rooms, kitchen, Dining room lounge everything was nice and clean.

The viewpoint from across this place are majestic. Can see the tip of Snowdon mountain. There are very few car parking spots but if found one, park your car there and walk around this beautiful lake. It might take couple of hours to walk around it but it is definitely worth it.
