The Sitwell Arms Hotel

We went to a wedding here just recently and for the most part, everything was good. We stayed over and the room was okay, recently refurbished. The breakfast was good and the service was good too.
The wedding venue was good too and had been prepared well for the day. The wedding food was okay too, the service a little slow and intermittent, for example, asking for more of anything had to be re-requested several times.
Into the afternoon and evening and this is where things went a little astray. There was an upstairs bar in the wedding venue area and a couple of bars downstairs including a public bar near to the children's play area. We'd used this bar several times during the day but when using it early evening, we were told by the bar staff, after confirming we were with the wedding party, and by staff who had happily served us during the day, that we had to go upstairs and use the bar there. One of us pointed to the play area and said that his kids were out there and was told, and I quote, "well, you'll have to go upstairs, get your drinks and bring them back down". This is completely unacceptable and ridiculous, bordering on the complete and utter stupid!! This needs sorting out as the public bar wasn't even busy at this time. When we went to the upstairs bar, no staff anywhere to be seen! By the time I'd been to reception and got someone to sort it out the upstairs staff had appeared.
Overall, the event area and accommodation are okay. Having stupid rules that just annoy people is not.

A warm welcome when we arrived for afternoon tea. As we arrived 10 minutes early did not know if our table would be ready but it was. The food was excellent and a good assortment of sandwiches, scones and cakes along with Eton Mess, very nice along with a huge pot of tea. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to make our visit memorable. Would highly recommend Sitwell Arms.

This was a friend's wedding reception that we went to ,the room was dressed very nice, the bar staff friendly and remembered what our orders were. The food that we had was hot, pulled pork burger with roast pots, apple sauce, stuffing very nice😋The location from us is quite a distance although I don't drink so not really a problem.
We did not stay the night so don't know what the rooms are like but the toilets were clean all night during the reception which is always a good point, DJ was good, sweets for the kids a good idea and a photo booth that the Bride and Groom had requested was a great idea,

Lovely venue for a wedding ! Staff were great but receptionists not so much, one was constantly on her mobile, they were rude and extra money was added to my bill as I had a 3 year old with us which I'd already said how many were stating in my room, 2 adults 2 kids one of the kids needs a cot. I queried this and was met with rudeness, huffs and puffs for it eventually be removed from my bill. My auntie booked a 4 poster bed and paid a lot for the room, and on the day she was put in a standard room regardless. Her room was dust and definitely not what she paid for ! I stayed for 2 nights one night in a single room and another in a family room. Rooms were lovely so can't moan and the honeymoon suit was gorgeous!

We had our wedding at the Sitwell.
From the minute we looked at the venue and the packages, the Sitwell had us hooked.
The Staff are fantastic, and will do anything to help and assist their customers in the lead up and the on the day itself.
Connor who was our wedding coordinator, is an absolute god send, this young lad knows exactly how to make the whole day run smoothly and make everyone feel at ease.
Our Special day was perfect, absolutely perfect in every way, and its a massive thanks to Jo, Connor and the the whole team.
Our dreams came true that day, and it was due to you guys.

This is a lovely little hotel! The rooms are a little tired but nevertheless very comfortable. We had a great nights sleep although the heating system is very noisy so no need for an alarm!!
What is outstanding about this place is the food! We ate in the bar and the food was absolutely incredible. The duck was quite the best I’ve ever eaten. Cooked to perfection, presented with style and imagination and was delicious. Equally the wild boar burger was amazing and again so tasty! And such an interesting menu to chose from.
The waiting staff were efficient and incredibly well mannered and seemed happy in their work.
Five stars to the chef and waiting team! Well done - really outstanding food! Definitely worth a trip here to eat fresh, well cooked and beautifully present food at sensible prices.

A party of 8 attended the NYE Gala Dinner last night. I loved the downstairs venue there were a more personal feel and friendly atmosphere. The staff worked tirelessly and the meal was amazing. 👏👏 Fireworks spot on and the DJ great.
My only gripe!! Please get more bar staff on. We were waiting for the hardworking lads on that bar to continuously run around fetching supplies it wasn't stocked up for the amount of customers at that event. Well Done. See you at the next one. HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉

We got married here on the 28/12, we had a meal the night before and the lady in the restaurant- Rachel, she made everything perfect, she was absolutely amazing the entire night. The room I had was perfect and so was the service all day. Connor was our coordinator and he made sure everything went perfect, I didn’t have to worry about a thing. He answered every question I had and when guests didn’t turn up last minute, he sorted this too. He was so kind and friendly I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to look after us. All of the staff were so friendly and the food was amazing! The honeymoon suite was beautiful and our breakfast the next morning was the best we’ve had. Thank you so much to you all for making our wedding so special, we can’t thank you enough! From Mr and Mrs Murphy x
