Long wait to check in because only one person was behind the bar taking food orders and on reception. No smile or apology for the wait when we were eventually checked in. Room was typical Travelodge. No complaints apart from the smell of rotten wood in the bathroom. Probably a leak under the basin. (I'm a retired plumber) Told reception who said they would investigate. But will they?

Firstly the bedroom was clean (except for crumbs left on a chair) and comfortable. The hotel facilities, however, are dire. There is no restaurant or bar… just an area in reception with tables and chairs. The receptionist was also serving behind the bar. There was no English beer on offer just two lagers. Even Guinness came out of a can. The “bar” was full of workmen in their working clothes drinking (I wondered why my small dog for which I had to pay an exorbitant £20 to stay was not allowed in the area). Having paid £12.50 in advance for dinner and free wi-fi (I never did get the wi-fi) I went to the bar/reception and ordered sausage and mash. This was finally served by a harassed duty manager (not much training in serving meals, I suspect). It was a microwaved mess. In all the experience cost me £80.

The window did not close all the way and we could feel the wind. The bathroom was dirty, as you can see in the pictures. So so disappointing. The location is great, comfortable beds, nice service but the brown dirt on the wall next to the toilet was really upsetting to say the least...and we couldn't take a shower because the bath tub was so dirty!

Nothing wrong with the room or eating facilities, but having checked in at 9pm to be told there's no hot water at all, not great.
Checked out at 8am, still no hot water. Not the staff's fault, but surely they have 24hr maintenance?

On the way back from our holiday in France. Room comfortable but the WiFi that we'd paid for was down, which made it difficult to say the least. Not able to pay for a meal by card and couldn't put it on our bill because 'they wouldn't like it'. We had to rake around for cash to pay for our meal as the nearest cash point was 10 minutes walk away. I had a chicken burger which I couldn't get my fork in to. Still no WiFi the following morning and when we asked for a refund because we'd paid in advance for it we were told we'd need to take that up with Virgin as they were the supplier - so goodbye £3. We had breakfast which was plentiful but average.
The location is good - close to the tunnel which is a bonus.

Really nice place, quiet even though the motorway is nearby staff were brilliant, good customer service. Very informative regarding rooms and breakfasts. Good choice, very hot, lots to choose from. Various other eating places around the hotel, also cinema

Staff excellent, but manager has no manners. The hotel seems to be a sort of a half way house for ex-cons. Also, it serves as a temporary accommodation for various councils. The manager does not differ between decent people and troublemakers and his behaviour reflects it in a very unpleasant way.
Despite having rooms for disabled, the hotel is absolutely not fit for purpose . It feels like a hostel rather than 2 stars hotel.
The rooms are clean.

In general the hotel was dirty and run down. The corridor had bags of rubbish and used crockery in it when we arrived. They were still there when we left the next day
The room itself was not clean and it smelled of smoke. There was one towel provided for a family room and there was no shower gel in the dispenser. Shower was one of those fixed "above the bath" types so not easy to use. Worse of all the sheets on the pull out bed were filthy.
I gave 2 stars because the staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable. But due to the standard of cleanliness I'd avoid this hotel in future.
