Awful service and staff was not hostile at all. Always looking for an opportunity to charge you extra and never made an effort to make your special day memorable. We made it clear that we are coming over for our anniversary weekend and nothing was left in the room as a gesture. In addition to that we were given an old and tired room where the bathroom was leaking. This hotel is very tired and need a complete renovation and a fresh team to give it a breath of fresh air. It was an awful experience and not worth the price it is worth. At check out the staff doesn’t even care to ask you how was your stay and was very unprofessional. Breakfast and dinner were average and the bar man was very rude and didn’t have any interest at all. It feels like the staff have no passion for their job. I will not recommend at all.

Very secluded and not easy to find but once found it is a lovely place.
Two reasons for not giving 5 stars
1. We found a huge bag of belongings of the previous occupants in our room, definitely not wanted as it makes you question the cleaning/housekeeping.
2. As we were eating our evening meal (outside) we saw a large rat running around quite near us. It wasn't my imagination as other residents also saw it.
On the plus point the service was outstanding and the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite.

This place was amazing and I would definitely recommend it! We drove 1 hour here for our family’s wedding and they did not disappoint! The food their was amazing and delicious! Worth the price! We booked the suite and when we came in it looked immaculate! The room was very spacious and easy to find! The staff there were great too! With amazing personality’s and made you feel very welcome to the hotel. Definitely worth the one hour drive!

we had a few relaxing days in an amazing venue.after travelling from Australia.
We are loyalty members of many hotel groups and can say that Sara Proiettiis one of the best welcoming ,helpful professional receptionists we have dealt with and a credit to the hotel.
Breakfast was very good quality. All in all a pleasant experience.

Gorse Hill is in a beautiful setting and the main house is lovely. However I was really disappointed with the room, for what is meant to be a 4 star hotel. The room was small, the bed was small, my bed side light didn’t work, there were stains on the carpet, it was really hard to pull the flush and there was a sign saying it might take 10 minutes for hot water to flow. We came back to Gorse Hill to celebrate our wedding anniversary which we held at Gorse Hill, and whilst our wedding, 6 years ago, was fantastic, I felt let down this time.

Lovely setting, and friendly, helpful food & bar staff. Would not recommend staying here, rooms are tiny and very overpriced, with thin walls, and the plumbing is noisy at night. Also seem to have a habit of trying to change booking details or entirely losing them, after having spoken with other guests.

I was extremely impressed at the staff at the Gorse Hill Hotel. We had a late drink at the bar and they were so accommodating and incredibly friendly. The bartender in particular was such a warm personality and we did catch him laughing at some parts of our conversation, he definitely contributed to how good our stay was! The hotel is split into different buildings and the outdoor area is beautiful and well-maintained. The room was good, nothing special but it had a comfy bed and was a clean room. Thank you to everyone at the hotel.

We went to Gorse Hill Hotel for Christmas lunch having their Christmas lunch menu cost £38
The staff were amazing - very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

The starters we had were great I had the soup which was really tasty, I also had the main course - Roast Turkey (there were other choices) which was okay but I believe the meat was formed meat, rolled on the plate not carved. Not tremendously tasty - you might get better tasting turkey meat at a Toby carved straight from the turkey itself. The parsnips were burned but okay to eat otherwise the rest of the vegetables and roast potatoes were very nice. The Christmas pudding was very nice and so were the warm mince pies with tea or coffee after - there were other choices of puddings and starters.

We are due back there soon with some friends so will so how that goes - not sure if I will choose the turkey again though.

It is a lovely venue with a real fire in the lounge - nice atmosphere and the hotel itself is nicely situated.
