Called in on the off-chance for dinner and was really impressed. Really nice, clean restaurant space, food was delicious with really good sized portions. Had the tomato soup with welsh rarebit to start followed by chicken tagine - both delicious! Service was excellent, staff were polite, really friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back.

Disappointed. My wife and I stayed here 12 months ago and everything was perfect.
We called in for an evening meal and everything was not perfect.
No A La Carte, most menu items not available. Items that were available were very good. Lack of kitchen management?
Will probably return as it's a good venue.

We had high expectations for our visit but were sadly disappointed. As a coeliac I need a gluten free menu we looked on the website beforehand and could see that this would be available . The choice is very small and felt like an afterthought. My partner asked for the a la carte menu but was told not on a Monday as they had no staff. We ordered a sharing platter as a starter which itself was tasty but we were given one slice of bread cut in half plonked on a plate in front of us. My gluten free slice was burnt and when I asked for another slice I was told there wasn't anymore . I chose gammon and chips from the 4 main course choices as this seemed to the safest bet. The gammon was tough and the chips cold. The main menu had a lot of choice but except for the burgers seemed to be things that could be precooked. The staff were friendly enough but didnt seem that interested. The dining room felt like a school dinner hall and we just had our meal and left. It's a real shame but not a good experience.

Staff were very welcoming, fun and did everything to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast and dinner were fine with heaps of choices. Bar service great. No hesitation to visit again.

Lovely stay, really friendly staff and as perfect a location for visiting Llandeilo as you could want.
Was it worth £165 for a night though? It was lovely, and the food in the restaurant was great (albeit a little low in choice for vegetarians), but there was nothing that really stepped this up above normal standard hotels that charge a lot less. Other hotels in this bracket have things like a spa, or swimming pool, or at least luxury rooms. The bed was two singles pushed together, and was really hard, and the room itself was fairly plain (other than a really gorgeous bathroom).
Don't get me wrong, it was a really nice stay, but I expected a lot more for the price. I got nothing more than I'd get at a Premier Inn or Holiday Inn, and both cost a lot less per night.

My only real negative for the stay was that the WiFi was shocking - couldn't connect at all, despite being there for 24 hours. And given that there's no mobile signal in the hotel that meant that we had to go to a nearby pub for WiFi. When asked, the hotel staff just said that it was an open network without a password, so it was just that there were so many people using it.

Nice hotel. Unique creatures, and not over styled. Good selection of gins.

Had a lovely Christmas lunch at the Cawdor today! I had the melon starter followed by Turkey with all the trimmings, finished off with a delicious chocolate and orange cheesecake - all was outstanding!! The staff were attentive and very friendly! Highly recommended!
