Large room but under refurbishment so no working lift and some lights not working in the room.

Worst aspect is that they do not service your room if you stay more than one night. They do not even mention Covid as a reason for this lack of service. Just the way it is, it seems. It's really not good enough.

You have to book a time slot for breakfast which is ridiculous when it's a buffet breakfast.

On the plus side the breakfast was good and they do have a pool which was not busy when we stayed.

Having just completed our 2 night stay I can say that the hotel is currently having extensive renovation work done but don't let that put you off the room we stayed in was clean new carpets after the reception area. Breakfast manager was very attentive with being able to speak 4 languages native french speaker. Continental style breakfast which is help your self unless you require assistance which they are happy to help with. They will cook fresh poached eggs and pancakes on request.

Down side the bed for me was too soft and the latch style doors were frustrating when residents just let the doors swing shut themselves instead of closing assisting. The floorboards in the room were a little creaky when walking across which some how annoyed the below neighbors as they banged on the ceiling (it was after 8am)

Also be very mindful of the hot water from the sink and shower are scolding hot if incorrect adjusted.

Went for Spa Day on Friday followed by Afternoon Tea. Great experience. Staff at Reception were really friendly and helpful. Spa Staff were very professional abd friendly and explained all procedures. Afternoon Tea was delicious and nice to be served on China Plates, Saucers and Coffee Pot. Will definitely book again and would recommend. We were 2 ladies celebrating a special birthday

Helpful staff but truly outrageous bar prices - £23 for a bottle of very ordinary rose? If you decide to bring your own wine along to accompany your meal it'll cost you £8 corkage. My tip: buy your wine at a local supermarket and drink it in your room.

Pòol and sauna was great however, our night was spoilt by rowdy people in bar who were there for a wake, they vaped, cursed and were generally loud without being questioned whilst we were having a meal. There was also a noise above the restuarant, like a stomping about noise that never abated during out meal. The meal itself was quite expensive and child like portions, very disappointed. Hotel room was good, roomy and clean. Overall i would not stay again.

Some of the recently refurbished areas of the hotel are quite pleasant, the breakfast room for instance is very smart. Breakfast buffet option (at £10 per night) was good and the food selection and quality made it very enjoyable.

Unfortunately, away from these updated areas, the hotel is tired at best. The renovation has made some of the corridors unusable, forcing an outside route via fire escape doors etc to be taken. I had booked a superior king room, however, upon arrival there didn't seem to be any available. Despite receiving an upgrade, the room lacked amenities you would expect to find at comparable purple colour schemed hotel for a similar nightly rate. No mini fridge, very basic tea and coffee making facilities instead of the promised coffee pod machine and no bottle opener in the room.

A mixed bag but unfortunately I do not think I would return until all renovations are complete and a scout of reviews to see how the room are at that time.

The hotel from the outside is deceiving as it looks a little dated and run down, however the recent refurbishments are a huge success. We had a superior room and it was absolutely lovely, very clean and smelt lovely. The bed and chairs were really comfortable and the bathroom was great. A lovely large TV with freeview meant we were able to relax. The bar is being refurbished so there was a temporary bar which we didn't use. Location wise it is right next to a local shopping village. Overall a lovely stay 👍🏻

I planned a day trip with my girlfriend for a treatment at the spa as well as a meal costing £140. I had received an email saying the treatment time was at 12 however on the phone the lady told me it was at 1pm and therefore assumed it was at 1pm considering the lady worked there and after asking her to make sure as the email said different she reassured me it was at 1pm. As we were on our way from Devon we got to Bristol where we had to change trains. It was here we were told that the train had been cancelled due to flooding. This was obviously out of our control and we clearly intended on going. Here we decided to call the spa to tell them that our train had been cancelled and we still wanted to come later in the day or reschedule for another day. We were told that our treatments were scheduled for 12 not 1 and we would have missed the beginning of our treatment due to the misinformation the lady on the phone told me, even if the trains were running. We were then told due to their 72hour cancellation policy they were unable to give us a refund or reschedule the treatments as the beauticians were still in for that hour despite us not being there. This was understandable but obviously disappointing for us, when speaking to the manager he seemed very rude and not understanding of the situation at all. We were given the option to still come for our meal and use of facilities but we were unsure of when the trains would be back running and we wanted to make sure we were able to get home so decided to not go for the meal. We then contacted the customer service email in an attempt to get something back but were left with nothing. Very disappointed in not being able to go and to lose the £140 as well as the train ticket costs. A refund at least for the meal or a discount if we were to book again would have been acceptable but we were left with nothing.
