OK, so the outside of this restaurant is not necessarily appealing, but it is a hidden gem for many reasons. The staff are genuinely very warm, and nothing is ever ridiculous to ask, you don't feel like you're stepping on their toes if you have lots of questions to ask. They can also be as chatty or not so chatty as you like - which is really helpful for those that don't want overbearing staff. The food, aside from being cooked with olive oil (which is a good to know with Indian food), is tasty and the portions are sizeable. It does feel and taste fairly authentic, although the naan can vary depending on the chef - needless to say the price you pay for a 5 course meal is worth it, and you are sure to be eating proper meat and/or fish cuts. Its a shame about the outside of this place, as its quite hidden, but I recommend all to try. Re: hygiene - there is nothing to complain about. I have not been to the toilets, so I cannot comment on that. Its not fine dining as such, so you can't set your standards there, but its given a 5 star on the sheer size, taste, quality of food, and the genuine attention that staff pay to customers.

Nice food always tastes freshly cooked. Menu has a good variety and the staff are always friendly. Have eaten in and used the takeaway services. Nice to say we haven't been disappointed. Good bargains £9.99 for starters, mains, rice and naan. Or try eat all you can on Sunday.

Believe the bad reviews. Go to Mowlgi’s, it’s worth the less waiting time and MUCH better food.

I’m a passionate Indian cuisine eater and this is up there with the top 3 worst Indians I have ever had.

We waited an hour and half for food which was ridiculous but i wouldn’t have minded if it was worth the wait. It was awful.

It’s not even worthy of being a restaurant. I’m sad now I didn’t have a take away from mowgli instead.

Don’t waste your time, energy and money on this place.

Do not go here - poor food and even worse service

I arrived at chillies at 20.15 on a Saturday night with two friends, and ordered by around 20.30. The restaurant is small, and most tables were filled, but it still did not feel busy. By 21.30 our food had not arrived, and neither had the table next to ours. We spoke to them and they had ordered around 15 minutes before us. They also thought it was unacceptable that they had been waiting so long. I spoke to the waiter and kindly pointed out the length of time we had been waiting, and asked how long our food will be. He was apologetic and stated 2 minutes - they were plating up. 15 minutes later and no food. I again asked the waiter how long it would take. He looked embarrassed and was apologetic. At 21.50 our food arrived, around 1hr20 minutes after ordering.

I politely told the manager (?) that I was not happy with how long we had waited and wasn’t sure why it had taken so long. The manager was not apologetic and told us it was busy. I have worked in a restaurant before, so politely told him that it did not seem busy for a Saturday night. We had also not been told it would be a long wait. He said he would give us a discount off the bill for the long wait.

We all tried to put this behind us and enjoy our food. Unfortunately this wasn’t possible - the food was definitely not worth the wait!!! I’ve had nicer ready meals!! Reheated onion bhajis, and bland food of poor quality. Unfortunately I felt my evening had been ruined and I was not happy to eat the food. This is the first time I have complained at a restaurant and the first time I have not eaten my food as a result My two friends ate theirs out of being so hungry, rather than enjoying it.

I spoke to the manager and expressed my dissatisfaction with the quality of the food, and due to this and the wait I was not happy paying. He was extremely rude, belittling and spoke over me. He took my food off the bill but did not apply a discount for the other two, and stated this was because I wasn’t happy with the wait. I politely pointed out this wasn’t the case. We all understandably were not happy with the wait, and I was not happy with my food. He told me there was nothing he could do, the food has been wasted and he wouldn’t be making money. I agreed that it was a shame, but that the quality of the food is within his control, as is the wait, as is the communication - all of which were poor. During all of this he had a smirk on his face and spoke down to me - I had to walk away from anger. I feel this could have been resolved through recognition of what went wrong and a simple apology.

This is also the first negative review I have given.

I advise not to go here. Mowglis is only approximately .25 miles down the road and is infinitely better in service, waiting time, quality of food, taste and ambience. Unfortunaty we were not able to get a table at mowlglis last minute on a Saturday night but could at chillies - I guess that speaks volumes in itself.

We go every year as a family outting, food and service is the best around and the restaurant decor is constantly being updated. Starters and mains and the general variety of the menu is outstanding. The pricing is very competitive to other local restaurants too. See you next year!!

I've been going to chillies for around 3 years now. I can honestly say I've yet to find food for such good value. I've never had a bad meal here and I'm always met with a smile! I would 100% recommend 5*

We have been to Chillies on many occasions. The staff are very nice and attentive and since they have changed the Chef, the food is very good and tasty. We are going this evening for a Special occasion. I would definitely recommend Chillies Restaurant.
