Lovely staff, very good food and very good portion sizes. The sizzling meals done in the tandoor are amazing and highly recommended. Have been multiple times over the last 2-3 years and the only shortcoming previously was that the curries could have had a little more spice, however on recent experience this has been resolved and warrants the Blue Ginger a rarely awarded 5 stars. We have had delivery from here too and the delivery was very quick, fresh and still really good quality food.

3 Standout Good Things/Things to try:

1. Chicken Tikka (dry) is absolutely amazing and comes out sizzling on a hot plate
2. The set meal for 2 is amazing value for money and could feed a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young kids)
3. Bring your own alcohol means that bills aren't pushed up by costly drinks

3 Areas that could be improved:

1. Naan bread isn't as flavoursome as some we've had and has on occasion been a little overcooked
2. The mint yogurt isn't as nice as we've had elsewhere and is actually a little more sweet than minty
3. The sides that come with the poppadoms don't include spicy option (in most restaurants this is the lime pickle)

I like to try and include 3 points in each category for my main reviews and so the negatives and positives should really be taken in the context of the whole review.

In the case of the Blue Ginger, this restaurant really is amazing and those areas of improvement would only, in my opinion, improve an already amazing restaurant. It certainly hasn't (and won't) put me off going time and time again and definitely shouldn't put you off giving one of the best Indian Restaurants in Gloucester a try.

Firstly I gave it 1 star because it won't let me choose none.

We ordered from these for home delivery, that was all good the order went through well on the phone and they said it would be with us within an hour.

Baring In mind they are only 3 miles down the road we thought that an hour would be good so we waited and waited, 1 1/2 hours later we hadn't received our food so we rang up and asked them where it was, they were very rude on the phone and told us not to ring up again and to just wait and then put the phone down. Another 30 minutes later still haven't heard anything so we rang up again. Once again they told us to stop ringing up and to wait for our food because it would be there in 10 minutes!

So after waiting 2 hours and then a further 10 minutes still no food so I rang up one last time and asked for a refund as I was not satisfied with the service, we got told that we are not having a refund because they have already cooked the food and it will be delivered soon, after explaining that we have waited over 2 hours which is twice as long as they said they still refused to even consider giving us our money back, while I was on the phone our food turned up and the delivery driver knocked on the door then when I answered just out the food bag on the floor and walked off, the food was cold especially after having to wait ages and still even cold food the staff showed no sympathy.

I will not be going again because the service and staff was disgraceful!

Overall disappointed with the meal.

We ordered through just eat and delivery was prompt and quicker than estimated

The naan was nice

The rice was Average

We ordered 2 chicken tikka masala as do love a saucy curry sometimes. They were the most bland Currys I have ever had. More flavour in a microwave meal

Average Indian food in basic premises, no license but you can bring your own alcohol. When I went there were a few big groups, however everything seemed to be under control and the tasty food was served quickly.

Ordered through just eat, waited almost 2 hours for food that was literally inedible. I couldn't eat it - curry destroyed and incredibly bland, chips freezing cold and cardboard. Made me feel unwell. Would not recommend

Fine Indian Cuisine, excellent range of dishes, the tandoor clay oven is superb. The restaurant is stylish and the staff are very friendly, highly recomended.

Really loved the food here. I should say this so far the best place i have found for indian curries and also the delivery was on spot with hot food.
Friendly staff too, would definitely order again.

It came half cold and half what we ordered. Not happy at all . The food we did get was horrible and wrong to what we ordered. We tried to call them and they won't pick the phone up . What a wast of time and money
