This is a lovely cottage in a quaint area. We had 14 people stay here to celebrate my wife's birthday. The building is spacious with more than enough room to fit every one in.

The living room, although not used by us much, is a nice area with plenty of games provided which is handy for big groups.

The dining room had a very large table which allowed every one to eat together and dare I say....is where the drinking games started.

The garden in the star of the show however, a huge space with a pool! (although we didn't get in). We spent a whole night by the bar area which had a fridge, speakers, plug points and lights, with the coal burner and the gas patio heater you can really make a night out of it here.

The bbq provided was top notch and was spotless for us to use.

Carole, the owner left 2 bottles of champagne and homemade raspberry jam which was a great treat. She was also very helpful over emails before we arrived.

The deposit was returned in full the next day.

I would thoroughly recommend this place for large groups, the garden makes it a great spot for a summer trip, but there is enough space for it to also be enjoyed in the winter.

We may be returning next year!

Very disappointing. I made the fundamental mistake of trusting the owner who requested that I deal with her through emails rather than the Home Away website. Once my money had been transferred all the pleasantries stopped and as soon as we arrived it was pretty clear why they rent the house out - a listed building which has some serious internal problems, including sinking on one side and poor plumbing. The shower leaks through in through the kitchen ceiling badly, literally water dripping through a hole and when I had the curtosey to message the owner politely highlighting the problem she sent rude and abrupt messages back saying to pull the shower curtain over fully.
The owner agreed that 16 people could stay in the house easily with additional sofa beds for an extra £300 on the asking price, no such sofa beds were provided and 2 people had to sleep on the floor. The gas in the barbecue and outside heater had run out, due to the abruptness of the owner I decided against requesting some more which spoilt our barbecue plans. The decor is cheap and tacky and there is a damp smell throughout the house, not to mention the cobwebs and spiders in the corners.
I'm still disputing my deposit with the owner now as she is trying to charge me for bins, washing towels and wiping down surfaces. I have all of the email correspondence saved and will try my upmost to get my deposit back as what should have been a lovely weekend now has been left with a dark cloud over it. RENT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

We have just returned from a weekend at Gostelow House. 14 of us travelled up for a hen weekend and we could not have had a more wonderful stay. The house is full of character and with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. There was plenty of space inside and out for us all to enjoy ourselves. The kitchen had LOADS of crockery and other utensils for our large dinner party and the table was big enough for us to squeeze around. The upstairs rooms were a little warm as the weather was very hot but Carole provided fans and the guests that slept there has no complaints.
Then there was the garden.. It was beautiful and the pool was an absolute godsend on this hot weekend. It was small but perfectly clean and worked well for our large group. We decorated the patio area for our party and the bar came in very handy!
Carole was helpful throughout the whole process and always answered questions quickly, check in and out was very easy and she even left us two bottles of champagne on arrival! Our deposit was returned the following day.
I don't think the reviews on Google do this place justice nor do the photos. It was a perfect getaway for a large group in the summer. I would definitely stay again.

Beautiful, quirky house which was more than big enough to accommodate a large group of us. We made good use of the garden and the outside bar although it was a little too cold to make use of the pool which was a shame. The kitchen and dining facilities were more than big enough for us. The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if I had a large group to accommodate. What a lovely find!

Had a great stay at gostelow house recently for a large hen do of 14/15 of us. Plenty of space and bedrooms. The living room had a comfy large couch that turned into a sofa bed. We had a few hours of good weather so made use of the huge garden and as soon as we found the speakers that worked in the outdoor bar, it changed the whole mood it was great! Looking through the reviews there was a few things to agree with but this is what you get for a very old listed building. Yes the shower leaked a little bit but if you follow instructions such as pull the curtain all the way over then this was then avoided. The house was clean with enough room for all of us to do multiple activities such as a rodeo bull in the garden and we were all able to eat together on the same room with enough chairs to go round. Lovely stay

A fantastic, quirky house and the perfect location for a getaway. I chose Gostelow House for my hen do and could not be happier with it. Carole was so accommodating from the moment that I got in touch with her. There was plenty of space for 14 of us to stay and Carole made sure there was space for us to store plenty of food and drink for the weekend. Cooking facilities were plenty and the beds were comfortable. We didn't make it into the pool due to the time of year but the garden was fab. Thank you so much Carole!

Quirky house, amazing gardens! We had a big group of us to stay for a weekend - plenty of space for all! Carole was so helpful and accommodating prior to our stay, she left a few bottle of bubbles for us to celebrate and ensured there was plenty of food storage space.

Comfortable stay for a group of 14! Beautiful, spacious garden and enough room in the house to do activities if it is raining. 30 seconds away from a nice pub if needed! The house and garden were quiet so felt we were totally having a getaway somewhere more rural. The house has character and is not a perfect modern getaway but that is what was great about it! Plenty of nooks and crannies and nik naks that make the house great to explore. Plenty of crockery and cutlery for 14 of us! Thank you.
