Had a night stop over in our mh, very easy to find. Staff really helpful and friendly with a great menu. The bar is dog friendly but not the restaurant. Our meals were so lovely and a good size. Couldn't have wished for a better stop over.

Had two meals in the space of one weekend as part of my parents' Golden Wedding anniversary celebrations. Absolutely beautiful food - could not fault anything. The service was 5*, very friendly staff, especially Chloe. Had the steak pie on the Sunday and all I can say is wow - that was by far the best steak pie I've ever had !! Really cannot recommend this place highly enough. Lovely atmosphere. Will definitely visit again !! Also, thanks so much for making my parents' anniversary meal so special with the table decorations. Fabulous country inn !!!

Fabulous friendly country pub/restaurant in beautiful surroundings & the decor was very tastefully homely with roaring log fires. Service was swift & staff courteous & informative while the food was exceptional. Thick cut gammon with egg & pineapple, proper chips, tomato & mushroom was so succulent it was "to fir for". Smoked salmon & prawn platter with brown bread & butter & salad is also highly recommended.

We enjoyed a very good meal here. Very good choice of vegetables. Two had the chicken and two had the salmon. Everything was cooked well - no complaints at all. The open fire was very welcome. Would we go back - definitely!!

My visit here was based on strong customer feedback on Google Reviews and they weren't wrong. Some of the smaller details around service and hospitality were refined, much of the food served was well executed and of exceptional quality and pricing well pitched for "country pub" standards. So, for example, the welcome was warm, our order taken in a timely fashion, and service attention was high. My partner's scampi was super-lightly battered, my beef gravy deeply flavoured and the vegetables perfectly al dente and well seasoned. Coffee was served with actual sugar and tongs accompied with a lovely rich home made chocolate tiffin as opposed to the usual biscuit or Elizabeth Shaw mint. Like I say, small stuff but the minutiae counts if your serving a clientèle like those present tonight. And here's the rub. And I know I'm here as part of the problem I'm describing. You see, the clientèle are, er, a bit staid. And this place knows this. So, it doesn't bother with world food influences - sticking to steak, scampi, pie and salmon (not heavily spiced - heaven forbid - I heard the very nice waitress stressing to potential salmon eaters) - and thereby keeping its usual punters happy. If you're after really good pub food that's managed to avoid the British food revolution then give the place a go - my food was truly delicious, homely, tasty and I couldn't fault a thing about it. But I'm having a curry tonight.

Found this place when looking for a dog-friendly pub in Scarborough. It was well worth the short drive north. The pub was nice and cosy and had a log fire burning. The staff was very welcoming, and the food was properly home-cooked with good-sized portions. We will definitely visit again.
