So after being hit from one of there forklift clients and having the incident recorded on several cameras, this company obviously admitted liability for there client, however there offer was extremely fraudulent.
Thinking I would have had my van repaired or receiving a economical write-off for £1,700 pounds I was shocked at the reality of there offer to my insurance company.
According to my insurance company I was only offered £100 for £1800 pounds worth of damages that was invoiced to them digitally by a official insurance garage who inspected my van, they was sent a copy of this invoice which showed damages for upto £2000 from a proper vehicle repair centre that sends invoices over through a computer system that the company uses and a copy is also sent to me upon request.
This is where it's gets fishy According to my insurance company I was told this 3rd party we're saying a 3.5ton ford transit van* was worth only a payout of only £100 or less. They used the word *only*
It should be noted that they sent no engineers to view my Van. If they did they would have know that my van is a commercial Grade TDCI Durectech model that sells for roughly 2,400 pounds on autotrader due to its weight load and pull and in its current age and condition, and plyhad custom plylined back which lots of service history and new parts.
I could resell the van the van for £3000 if the forklift had not had damaged the plylining of the back of my van and my door and door frame and side step.
It used a dark mahogany grain of plywood that is very sort after that does well preventing dampness and durable even though van the was kept in good condition it was said in there response letter to my insurance company that the nature age and milage and incident was worth a pay out of £100 or less. When the value is worth 4times as much in scrap metal it was just laughable.
Fortunately l do have legal cover so if the issues are not resolved a team of solicitors from one of the biggest insurances companies in the UK will be taking them to a Magistrates Court, this will increase my insurance premiums by using my legal cover but fraudulence shouldn't go unanswered and I'm glad I opted for it. I've been told by my insurance company it's always good to have for things such as these as 3rd parties expect that you won't be able to afford a good solicitor which is why they go about these actions.
My company will act accordingly if the response is not what I'm hoping for after reading some of these comments I'm glad I have the cover.
I have not approached Gallagher and have been adviced to not Coraspodend with them, however it's really hard to stay restrained and not send them a email when you know they are trying to screw you over a table.
Always ensure you have legal cover
For something that they say would have been resolved in three months they have done nothing but drag this case out for almost two years.
Their attitude towards this case has been less then professional and have shown no interest in any resolution from the start. Using rhetoric like 'can't I just drive the vehicle as it is?' and 'why don't I just claim on my own insurance instead?'.
Specifically David Ross, the person who was assigned to this case has shown nothing but contempt towards me and this case. I have called him on countless occasions for updates and his attitude is always as if I'm bothering him whenever I call.
The impression I get is that the case file or emails are not looked at by him as when I do speak to him it is clear that he has not read my emails or taken the time to ascertain if his client has provided any updates.
To get any updates from him I have to continuously call and there are no further updates unless I call again.
My calls are never returned and more recently he has stopped taking my calls altogether.
I have been attempting to contact him for over a month now and my calls to his direct line are never picked up. I have resorted to calling the office directly and request to be put through to him. I am just asked to leave a message but never receive a response. On the last occasion I was told that there was something wrong with his phone and he would call back, no call back was received.
I thought it was just incompetence but it is now very clear that they have a deliberate strategy to ignore my complainant and hope that I will eventually give up and go away.
Disgusting treatment, assigning Gallagher Bassett to my complaint has been a total waste of my time. They have achieved nothing but to waste almost two years.
Does anybody have similar experiences with them?. Are there professional bodies that complaints about them can be referred to?.
