Baker G A & Son

This is a really lovely shop, where I have been several years running to get a silver charm for my daughter's bracelet... she gets a single charm every year. despite the low profit involved in a single silver charm, I am always given amazing service, my daughter is given as long to browse over old and new charms as she wishes, the staff are a dream, and the shop itself a treasure trove. It's like walking into all the best of the past, stepping into this shop. Beautiful, and magical, and I wish I had more reason to visit!

I purchased a necklace for a birthday gift and checked before purchase that I could return and get a refund or alternative if they did not like it. I was very disappointed to be advised that they had no suitable alternative pieces and would not refund the item. I was told to just come back at Christmas as they may have some new stock.....purchased in August!!
I now have a credit note which I will not use as the selection was poor. I was very unhappy and the manager did not bother to come down and discuss it. Poor customer service and a poor selection of jewellery....I would advise to shop elsewhere!

Fantastic services!! Ibrought two rings and one got damamged when I fell over. I took the ring in the next day and they polished it for me free of charge. I will definitely use this wonderful jewellery shop again

Never in my life have been made to feel like such a criminal. The staff insinuated that the jewellery was stolen because of the staff policy, which in itself is sexist as you are not allowed to sell jewellery that is for the opposite sex. But I'm sure I would be allowed to buy jewellery of the opposite sex.

The attitude of the staff was aggressive, rude and unwelcoming.

The five star rating is for the beautiful heritage asset 'The Baker’s clock', which stands above GA Baker & Son jewellery store in Southgate Street; not for the store itself as I haven't bought anything from it - yet.

After visiting other jewellers and being told that I couldn’t have my necklace repaired to how it was originally made I wasn’t very optimistic about getting my prized possession that my late mother had gotten made for me repaired. That was until I walked into Baker G A and son. I was greeted with a warm welcome and advised that I would get a quote within 5 days and be advised if it could be returned to its original state or an alternative repair would be offered. After 4 days I received a phone call with great news and a welcoming quote for the repair I required and was called again5 days later as advised to collect. I would highly recommend Baker A G and son to anyone who is nervous or anxious about getting a special piece of jewellery repaired. I will never use another jeweller again!

Very helpful and reassuring when I had to send my watch off for valuation. Bought from them before and will continue to do so. Used them for repair before as well. They keep you informed and you can ask for progress updates anytime.
