Not a great place for optics. I went in there asking for a prism mirror for my telescope and they had to get keys out and try and find one. They had 4 people looking around for it and when hey finally found it they asked for £46 for it. I declined and they then whispered to themselves about mentioning discount but a discount of 10% is still too high. I felt they were desperate for a sale and I didn't feel in a confortable environment to buy. I also went into the shop a few weeks before asking for a telescope eyepiece and they just tried to sell me a new telescope. Bare in mind most of their prices are 20% on top of RRP, I don't know how they've kept open all these years. Shame it's the only local place to do astronomy setups. Maybe they should display their merchandise out then people can browse and decide instead of making decisions on the spot.

Would prefer not to give any stars. Went in looking for a specific Timex watch. Found it over priced but was willing to pay asking price as they said they could adjust fitment of the oversized strap within 2 hours. They were informed that we were only visiting Bury St Edmunds and that in 3 hours we had to leave. Went back after said 2 hours only to find it hadn't even been looked at. Excuses made (by a very abrupt and rude female member of staff (wish I'd got her name)). Went back after the next agreed time scale, only to find that the watch again had not been touched and was sitting on the side just to hand it over with the same excuses of not enough time and too busy. DON'T MAKE PROMISES YOU CAN'T KEEP! Demanded money back which reluctantly was forthcoming. I'm amazed it's still in business. AVOID! Better independent jewellers / optical shops in Bury St Edmunds with far better sales staff.

Never would i shop here again. Bought a silver keyring for my sons 21st and had a 21 silver charm attached to it. Cost me £80 in total. 2 days later took it back as they didn't solder the links together. They wanted to charge me another £55 when suggested they should be soldered anyway and i shouldn't have to pay for this, they said i could have it done for £40 which i declined. When buying the item they couldn't of been more helpful, but when i took it back they were uninterested and an attitude towards me. So didn't have the links soldered and feel like I've wasted £80. Wouldn't even give this shop one star.

They charged me £20 just to remove links from a watch, and an estimated two hour wait time. The whole job takes about 30 seconds. Absolute ripoff.

Love this shop! I bought a watch and the lady serving was extremely helpful. They have such a good variety of items on sale

Absolutely appalled by the lack of professionalism of this establishment, which has now affected us. We paid a fortune for our Canadian immigration pictures to be taken here (entire family), which required to be stamped and dated on the back. The pen used by the lady at the counter was not suitable so the back of the pictures got completely smudged with ink and in places was intellegibile. I asked the older lady at the counter to redo the pictures as the smudged writing would likely not be accepted (we are talking immigration pictures) and she very rudely said we'd have to pay for another set if we wanted that amended. It was their mistake and they were asking us to pay £80 plus for it. I argued the mistake was theirs but to no avail. Given the amount paid we had to use those and LO AND BEHOLD now we have been requested for new pictures, which has delayed our immigration status finalization. Awful service and absolutely no professionalism or accountability. Go somewhere else.

I have just experienced the most appalling customer service at Sneezums. I have been a customer for a number of years but will never return. I purchased some earrings which I wasn't sure about and then tried to return them within 30 minutes but was greeted by a circle of staff who were aggressive at my request and had absolutely no empathy with my situation. I understand earrings are non returnable but this policy was taken to the extreme with the time I had taken them out of the shop. A good customer service course is much needed at this shop I'm afraid. I feel the Manager is not setting a very good example for junior staff who were present.

We asked for 3 links to be removed from a watch and from a 9ct gold bracelet. We paid a deposit of £20 for each. We then waited 2 weeks before we heard anything. They said that the bracelet would cost £120 because the ends needed soldering as well, we declined the work feeling they were exploiting the situation for extra earnings. They also on 2 occasions were unsure where the watch seemed to be. Went to collect both items 8-5-21, when I asked the return of £20 deposit on bracelet because no work had been done, I was told that it was non refundable even though this was never mentioned and they could not show me where this was stated on the receipt. This business was started in 1874 and they still haven't an understanding of customer service, how an earth they keep trading is beyond me. Took the bracelet straight to Preston & Duckworth after leaving Sneezums, nothing wrong with the ends, 3 links to be removed and be ready within the week to pick up! No deposit needed, pay the total cost of £30 when collecting. Thats customer service.

(The follow up on Sneezums review is that I received a full refund on the unworked bracelet and they also refunded the cost of the watch strap adjustment as a kind gesture. In fairness, this is a good response from Sneezums. I would always advise to check that any deposits paid are refundable from any business, if works are not completed and not assume that it is the case if nothing is said or written to state as such, the choice is yours).
