The installation team were all friendly and conscientious. There were some delays but the communication throughout was excellent.
All in all we are very happy and would recommend.
However, there appears to be a lack of customer service from Sonna Kitchens. Any time I had to chase for updates on delivery and/or installation information, Sonny was not available and the lady who answers calls could only answer by saying "I will get Sonny to call you back". There surely could have been a record of what needed doing, and what was being done, but there appears to be no communication internally within the business, and the level of customer service as a whole needs alot of improvement.
There was a moment of surprise when many of the pieces were left outside, seemingly all day, in the rain, tethered to our wall using our own washing line, and this is downright appalling.
Also the plasterer that was used did not do the best of jobs, so I would encourage Sonna to find someone with a bit more consideration and pride in their work.
Additionally, the project was not completed on time, it was several days later than planned.
The fitters were excellent, and even worked well above and beyond their expectations to try to get the whole project completed on time, which deserves applause and recognition.
Would I use Sonna Kitchens again? I might be inclined to look elsewhere.
After the deposit was paid and the date booked, the communication for Sonna Kitchens was poor, it took us two weeks of chasing Lucy to be told she had left. At this point we hadn’t actually signed off the full specification.
Two weeks before the installation date we were chased by Sonny to make the 2nd instalment, we had some concerns and these were answered (falsely, we now understand). Three days after the invoice was sent we were hounded aggressively by Sonny everyday to make the payment, otherwise our installation slot would be moved 4 months later. Given we were abroad and had things to sort out this is a ridiculous timeframe of 3 days.
The installation date came and thats really where everything went down hill, quickly. The fridge we ordered 3 months prior was now not available - it had not been reserved. Cupboard knobs and handles were unavailable , even though we told them when placing the kitchen order they have limited stock. (We had to find them ourselves)
The tiler was an agency tiler never used by Sonna kitchens before, his work had to be redone a week later by another tiler.
Plasterer did an awful job at patching in so caused cracks in the plaster that required it to be redone. (Our own decorator sorted this)
Electrician, wired cables on the outside of wall struts causing a safety hazard. Also have two fuse spur behind our kitchen units god knows what happens if these ever go. We would have to cut out the back of one most likely.
As the kitchen was being built, it became clear there were some problems. The mantle ordered was the incorrect size. The chefs block had cupboards when we had requested draw. Sonny again became defensive and somewhat confrontational blaming the draws on us even though we had an email and mockup images clearly showing they were draws. He wanted us to pay an extra £700+ for this even though it was Sonna Kitchens mistake. Thankfully, he changed his tune and ordered them after multiple telephone and email exchanges. The mantle was remeasured and reordered.
We are now on week 4 of a supposed 3 week build, with still no cooker. The cooker arrived 3 days before Christmas, 6 weeks into the project. (Sonna Kitchens didn’t think to check the order until the week of installation)
We were informed the draws and mantle will be installed early January. This came and went, the mantle and draws actually arrived at the end of March! 16 weeks into a 3 week project. However the mantle was now too small! Ridiculous! We requested it to be removed from the order as we were just fed-up and did not want to wait another 12 weeks. (He tried to give us a discount of the trade price not his price charged, so he would have made profit on the reduction! Thankfully we noticed this.)
It then became apparent that Sonny didn’t really care about getting this kitchen done and just wanted his money. He states that the draws and warped cupboard doors were remedial/ snagging and we should pay immediately. Given we have had over 20 problems and a time frame of 20+ weeks, we didn’t feel comfortable with this as how do we know the outstanding items will ever get completed. We had already paid 75% and was told the final payment was on completion.
The entire experience with Sonna Kitchens was awful, ownership, project management, quality assurance and communication is none existent. Be prepared to take time off work to project manage and deal with a passive aggressive Managing director that just cares about being paid not the customer or end kitchen.
