We decided to go with Sonna Kitchens after visiting a few different local and national companies. We immediately felt welcome and comfortable in their showroom, we had many questions about their products and we knew what we wanted. Sonny was able to answer all of our questions and was able to provide what we wanted as well as coming up with some excellent design ideas to add to it.
The installation team were all friendly and conscientious. There were some delays but the communication throughout was excellent.
All in all we are very happy and would recommend.

Overall, the standard of work was good, the finished product we are happy with.

However, there appears to be a lack of customer service from Sonna Kitchens. Any time I had to chase for updates on delivery and/or installation information, Sonny was not available and the lady who answers calls could only answer by saying "I will get Sonny to call you back". There surely could have been a record of what needed doing, and what was being done, but there appears to be no communication internally within the business, and the level of customer service as a whole needs alot of improvement.

There was a moment of surprise when many of the pieces were left outside, seemingly all day, in the rain, tethered to our wall using our own washing line, and this is downright appalling.

Also the plasterer that was used did not do the best of jobs, so I would encourage Sonna to find someone with a bit more consideration and pride in their work.

Additionally, the project was not completed on time, it was several days later than planned.

The fitters were excellent, and even worked well above and beyond their expectations to try to get the whole project completed on time, which deserves applause and recognition.

Would I use Sonna Kitchens again? I might be inclined to look elsewhere.

In April 2021 we approached Sonna Kitchens for a quotation and mockup of a new kitchen we were looking to get. Lucy, was helpful at producing the mockup and tweaking the overall design. This is where anything positive about Sonna Kitchens ends.

After the deposit was paid and the date booked, the communication for Sonna Kitchens was poor, it took us two weeks of chasing Lucy to be told she had left. At this point we hadn’t actually signed off the full specification.

Two weeks before the installation date we were chased by Sonny to make the 2nd instalment, we had some concerns and these were answered (falsely, we now understand). Three days after the invoice was sent we were hounded aggressively by Sonny everyday to make the payment, otherwise our installation slot would be moved 4 months later. Given we were abroad and had things to sort out this is a ridiculous timeframe of 3 days.

The installation date came and thats really where everything went down hill, quickly. The fridge we ordered 3 months prior was now not available - it had not been reserved. Cupboard knobs and handles were unavailable , even though we told them when placing the kitchen order they have limited stock. (We had to find them ourselves)

The tiler was an agency tiler never used by Sonna kitchens before, his work had to be redone a week later by another tiler.

Plasterer did an awful job at patching in so caused cracks in the plaster that required it to be redone. (Our own decorator sorted this)

Electrician, wired cables on the outside of wall struts causing a safety hazard. Also have two fuse spur behind our kitchen units god knows what happens if these ever go. We would have to cut out the back of one most likely.

As the kitchen was being built, it became clear there were some problems. The mantle ordered was the incorrect size. The chefs block had cupboards when we had requested draw. Sonny again became defensive and somewhat confrontational blaming the draws on us even though we had an email and mockup images clearly showing they were draws. He wanted us to pay an extra £700+ for this even though it was Sonna Kitchens mistake. Thankfully, he changed his tune and ordered them after multiple telephone and email exchanges. The mantle was remeasured and reordered.

We are now on week 4 of a supposed 3 week build, with still no cooker. The cooker arrived 3 days before Christmas, 6 weeks into the project. (Sonna Kitchens didn’t think to check the order until the week of installation)

We were informed the draws and mantle will be installed early January. This came and went, the mantle and draws actually arrived at the end of March! 16 weeks into a 3 week project. However the mantle was now too small! Ridiculous! We requested it to be removed from the order as we were just fed-up and did not want to wait another 12 weeks. (He tried to give us a discount of the trade price not his price charged, so he would have made profit on the reduction! Thankfully we noticed this.)

It then became apparent that Sonny didn’t really care about getting this kitchen done and just wanted his money. He states that the draws and warped cupboard doors were remedial/ snagging and we should pay immediately. Given we have had over 20 problems and a time frame of 20+ weeks, we didn’t feel comfortable with this as how do we know the outstanding items will ever get completed. We had already paid 75% and was told the final payment was on completion.

The entire experience with Sonna Kitchens was awful, ownership, project management, quality assurance and communication is none existent. Be prepared to take time off work to project manage and deal with a passive aggressive Managing director that just cares about being paid not the customer or end kitchen.

Worst mistake we ever made was to trust this business with our new kitchen. The one month project became a six month disaster. 6 weeks without running water in kitchen, our second oven never arrived (had to buy ourselves), wrong colour quartz worktop. Wrong colour sink. Wrong cupboards . No drawers as specified. Months and months to arrange replacements. Arrogant owners never acknowledged any of their errors. We were even criticised for contacting owners when their disorganisation resulted in workmen turning up when nobody was at the house to let them in. We went through three of their plumbers (each one left as complained about being messed about with) and still don’t have working radiator. Their fitters (Wayne and Ollie) were excellent but I despaired at the disorganised management behind them. I think all of staff have left now so would guess the business will shortly no longer exist. Good luck if you are part way through a project.

I wasn't going to write a review but after hearing some of the stories doing the rounds and reading some of the reviews, i felt i ought to share my experience - even if it saves just one more person from being ripped off and receiving appalling service from this company. 18 months ago, I went to Sonna Kitchens as initially they made me feel like i was in the hands of a trusted and knowledgeable local family company - I soon realised (after i had signed on the dotted line) what a massive mistake i'd made choosing these to handle my project. Their joiner openly said to me they "hated joinery" (not what i wanted to hear when fitting my kitchen), appalling, shoddy work behind the scenes on chopping out for extractor fans etc, angles on pelmets that were very obvious to the eye were not accurate - a child could have cut an angle better! When i had a problem, Sonny was never to be seen, never answered calls and when he did he was passive aggressive. I was under the impression that this company would project manage the installation - how wrong i was. They didn't have a clue. After spending thousands on my dream kitchen, the whole experience made me poorly, i never thought a local family friendly business would treat someone so badly. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Sonny at Sonna Kitchens offered us outstanding service and support throughout the process of designing and installing our new kitchen. He was responsive to our questions and knowledgeable about the options that were available to us; without ever pressuring us or up-selling. Six months after instillation the kitchen has proved to meet all our expectations. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sonna Kitchens.

Do I recommend Sonna Kitchens? Absolutely. Sonny’s design skills are great - he listens carefully to what you want and makes it work. The 360 design brings it to life. If you give him a budget, he will work within it. We ended up spending more (of course), but this was always our decision and we knew exactly what we were signing up to. Our fitter, Chris, was second to none. He is a perfectionist who has really high standards and a totally professional approach. All of the people who worked on the kitchen (plasterer, electricians, plumbers etc) came to visit in advance, so they knew exact details of the job. All were professional, and the overall scheduling of the different stages was good. Were there glitches? Of course. Needed a bit of a redesign, sink was a bit late, didn’t like one of the units. However, all issues were dealt with efficiently and there was good communication. We love our new kitchen.

From the first visit from Sonny to discuss our thoughts and within a week he had shown us a 360 degree model of the kitchen we had discussed. It was virtually perfect and only had to tweak a few aspects if it. Once the kitchen was ready, the fitter Joe was quick to get stuck in and did a very professional job of fitting it and the chaps who fitted the quartz top. We were very happy with Sonny’s expertise in helping us decide on the appliances and best layout. We would highly Sonna kitchens and their professional team who did a superb job in our kitchen and we love it.
