I've used Clarke Willmott for several years for various reasons. They've always dealt with any of my enquiries very efficiently and never have had never had a problem. I recently purchased a property and Margaret Vining was amazing. She was always at the other end of the phone when needed and made sure my purchase was smooth and thorough. I totally recommend Clarke Willmott and will continue to use them,

It is with regret that i give them 1 star.
Having dealt with this company for over 20 years, last year i discovered they had messed up big time over land registry that had been paid for 22 years previously. I spent months finding out information as they said the property wasn't mine. I proved that it was, then they wanted to charge me for it again! I refused to pay and they finally after months agreed it was their mistake and footed the bill.
If this hadnt been the case i could have been in the position of losing £400,000!
I rang them 11 years ago to find out the cost of buying and selling my house and the young lady at the didn't have a clue.
After so many years of being loyal to this company, I would not touch them unless forced.
I have spoken to people I know and have found that they too have had similar experiences.

I would not recommend this solicitor to any one they are nothing but con artists, we arranged to have a meeting regarding a will with Ben tasker. We had a meeting for around a hour and we then received a invoice for £1500!!!!! We were shocked as most other solicitors were charging around £200 to £300, I called them to discuss why it would be so much and I was told that's our charges!! I then tried to get them to reduce the invoice and I was told no! We were never told that it would cost this much at the meeting, although in bens words ( I'm sure I told you) they never told us anything we were the advised that the charges were in the small print!!!!!!!! We then intucted Ben to cancel the whole thing and we then received a invoice for £268.80!!!!! On questioning this we were told this was the cost of the meeting!! This is a total rip off we are old age pensioners with no income and again we called to question this and we were told THATS OUR CHARGES!!! We have paid it and they have totally wiped us out over Christmas and we have now had to borrow money from our son to get us through the Christmas period!! So please people avoid this bunch of tweed wearing pen pushers who exploit people with there London prices!! We have used this company for 40 years but never again!!!!!

the sale of our childcare business was handled by Kirill Bingham who given that we had no previous experience took us through the mountain of required steps with patience and respect. Though we knew K.W.
were expensive and could have got cheaper services elsewhere in our experience the service we received was worth it.

Clarke Willmott were tasked by the official receiver to work out how much income tax I would have been liable to pay. They incorrectly calculated the amount due leading me to pay too much and be out of pocket for some time. When I spoke with the relevant manager I was told I was wrong and their AAT qualified member of staff was correct.

I pointed out (to their surprise having clearly assumed I was an idiot) I was also AAT qualified but unlike them, could work out the tax liability correctly. During the conversation I was told there are two ways of working tax out which was news to me (and wrong). I was also told working out my income tax was complicated as my wages can fluctuate month to month which surprised me as it changes nothing as to how the actual calculation is made, only the figures you use change. Ok The parting comment from the member of staff was "at the end of the year we will see who was right won't we". Funnily enough it was me.

If Clarke Willmott had continued to be trusted to work out the amounts due, I would have overpaid by hundreds, maybe even as much as £1,500 over the duration.

I would urge anyone who has trusted this company to calculate their income tax to get it double checked.

My partner has left numerous messages to speak with an advisor as he can never get through. I've been present on all occasions of those messages left. No one has called him back and it was to discuss the payment option as he has lost his job and now it is past the date needed. Not impressed with the level of customer service.

We have used Clark Willmott for the sale and purchase of our house along with the purchase of our daughter's flat. Their charges were explained at the beginning of the process. Paul and Grace were responsive to enquiries from both ourselves and third party solicitors. Support staff were always polite and attentive. Not planning on moving again, but would use them again.

Very poor service. Have to keep chasing and chasing. They say they will get back to you they don't. For what they charge you would expect better service. Recommend a small firm in the centre of Taunton.
