I experienced very poor and what I consider to be, massively unprofessional conduct on the part of Hill Abbott solicitors, when I was trying to challenge/sue, my final employers, (as I am now retired) for loss of wages, loss of pension payments and actual physical assault.
I was, at the time of this aforementioned assault, Acting Head Teacher at a 'special' council run school, for children with serious behavioural and health issues.
My initial contact with Hill Abbott involved a solicitor who was empathetic and supportive and categorically confirmed to me, both verbally, he said I had a "strong case" and in the terms of the contract 'To Pursue for Compensation', that Hill Abbott would take action to force my previous employers to 'disclose evidence' that they witheld, concerning my case. This was critical medical evidence that proved I had been physically injured, medical logs of injury.

After some weeks of hearing nothing, I went back to Hill Abbott's offices to demand to know what was happening. I had received no updates, telephone calls or letters. The solicitor who took on my case was no longer employed there and the person who had taken on his cases was not even aware of me as a client. My file, he showed me, was in a pile of untidy files at the back of his office.
His attitude to me personally was abrasive and unhelpful. He contradicted all previous advice and achieved nothing. He chased nothing and did NOT move the case forward. He also told me I did NOT have a strong case. After months of inaction, I took my case to the Ombudsman. Their representative told me after more weeks of waiting, that the service I had received was, in their parlance 'satisfactory'.

I, think not. Your service to me as a client was abysmal. If it had not been such a serious matter to me, I would use the word risible.
Your service was unprofessional, slow, ineffective and extremely poor.
In my opinion you have a cheek even to call yourselves solicitors.
You solicited nothing for me. Absolutely nothing.

I would never recommend your company to a living soul.

As a barrister I assisted This firm a number of times. I had one or too spectacular successes in a surveyor and solicitor negligence cases and some others too long ago to remember. I did a great deal of work for them for which I was never paid. When I found myself unpaid by one of this firm's clients their attitude was less than admirable; it involved failing to supply documents for years, running deplorable and unarguable defences. They refused to take any responsibility for their actions and only paid up when proceedings were about to be served. I was invited to make a comment.

Here at SilverLeaf Homes we work with many solicitors as we are in the business of buying, renovating and selling properties in Essex.

It was the first time using Hill & Abbott Solicitors to sell a property of ours in Rayleigh. Very friendly and professional service from the initial meeting to the sale completion of the property.

We look forward to working Hill & Abbott in the near future.

Great Job!

We have used Hill & Abbott over many years and they have undertaken five conveyances, and assisted in the preparation of our wills. They have always been efficient, friendly and good value

Really pleased with the service that i had from Hill and Abbott especially Alison who handled my sale and purchase recently.
Nothing was too much trouble Alison and her team explained everything as we went along it was great knowing that i had them there for me felt reassuring especially as Buying and Selling property is a daunting process.
I would not hesitate to recommend them and i will be using them again .

The service we have received from Hill & Abbott has been truly unbelievable.
They were dealing with my dads estate after he passed away last year.
Constantly chasing for answers on questions as never updated unless we asked (and being charged a fortune for the privilege).
This company are suppose to be professionals that do this day in day out and help you at a time when you’re grieving.
Awful awful service.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

Conveyancy service was good. Michael kept me informed at all stages and chased when delays were getting silly. Also used the will service. Efficient and helpful staff. Only downside of their business is the committmentbif the reception desk to greet and help you.
