I first met Mr Michael Proctor the chosen Barrister when I attended Peterborough Crown court for a hearing in which a very close friend of mine had been accused of a serious offence that could have him facing a prison sentence of five years plus.
In that very first meeting he put both of us at ease and we were left with the feeling we had the right man in our corner his demeanour and the way he spoke even whilst explaining the severity of the charges left us completely reassured he was the man for the job.
My friend and his employer attended meetings with Mr Proctor on the lead up to the trial and whilst this is not common Mr Proctor spent the time and effort to really get to grips with the case ensuring he was fully armed with all of the facts.
When the trial commenced he explained all of the options to my friend whilst assuring us he was confident of a not guilty. For those of you whom have never experienced a crown court environment be assured when you have a lot at stake the correct choice of Barrister is essential. Mr Proctor is certainly that man he not only got involved on a professional level but also on an emotional level, in other words he gave it his all. Yes the case seemed in the eyes of the un-used to the way it works be like an emotional roller coaster but despite our concerns Mr Proctor would reassure us.
Using his very obvious years of experience he ran our case and despite having the slowest Judge in the world which was frustrating for all and extended a four day case to eight days, Mr Proctor was under pressure as he had another trial on the Thursday that needed his attention, despite this he never let us down was there 100% of the time and gave it 100% attention.
The result of this was a not guilty on both counts for my friend who had never wavered in his version of the events, where Mr Proctor picked holes throughout the prosecution case despite a Judge that was leaning on the prosecution side, Mr Proctor was happy to challenge the judge to ensure the jury got all of the facts.
So for anybody unfortunate enough to face the Crown Court system I would highly recommend this most professional and affable gentleman to you

I used Charles Snelling in a case involving the Environment Agency and I couldn’t have wished for a more professional barrister. He proved the majority of their case to be a frame up and the outcome was a huge fine reduced to less than 10 percent. I cannot thank him enough and wouldn’t hesitate in using his services again. Thanks Charles for all your hard work.

Absolutely stellar experience from start to finish. Katharine Bundell is in a class of her own - experienced, knowledgeable, practical, responsive..and a wonderfully warm woman! Katharine gave me hope when when I lost faith in the justice system, and she followed through! Thoroughly recommend Katharine Bundell and Fenners Chambers for anyone going through a difficult family legal matter.

My solicitor briefed Fenners in early December, I was advised upon Fenners reviewing the file brief they could assist with my case so to give their expert advice at a fee of around £3000 inc VAT, a date was given by them for responding so that my case may move forward with legal action.
That date passed with no communication from Fenners or my solicitor, I sent emails to Fenners which were not responded to. I eventually telephoned Fenners asking for an update, the receptionist advised the barrister concerned was unavailable even though he was in his chambers but could not give an update, I was advised to contact my solicitor directly and to not go through Fenners.
I contacted my solicitor who advised me of Fenners not being suitably qualified to act for me and therefore alternate Barrister was being sought.
This was during the Christmas and New Year period and understandably offices were closed at certain times yet I was not contacted by Fenners at all, Fenners failed to advise me they could no longer assist me even after they advised a couple of weeks before Christmas they could. Further, they felt they were unable to speak to me directly to advise me of them no longer being able to assist me but left me to pursue my solicitor for updates and progression.
With Fenners and the barrister concerned being marked as direct public access, I would have hoped for some communication from them to appraise me of the current situation and to advise me of how to progress matters. I am now waiting for a suitable barrister to review the case and give their expert opinion, this has caused unnecessary delays for action to be taken against the other party.
In my personal experience of Fenners, their lack of openness and willingness to communicate fairly and honestly to their client is poor service and affects my welfare and the fair treatment one would expect to receive from such an establishment.
