Excellent service from Jayne Smith who recently dealt with our Wills and Power of Attorney, matters were handled with very sensitively at quite a difficult time for us. We would 100% recommend this firm as we have dealt with them previously, using other services which they offer.

I rung and checked if they'd certify a copy of my passport for me as I live locally - when I arrived I wasn't even allowed in the door and was rudely told they wouldn't even entertain the idea of doing it for me as I wasn't a current customer. Fair enough, but irritating when I'd rung to specifically ask that question (and been told they would!!) and then gone out of my way to make a visit. Unimpressed.

This was our second time using Rotheras and Emily was incredibly efficient with our conveyancing. Overall they made the process as smooth as possible.

My parents had wills drawn up at Rotheras Bramcote and dealt with Jayne Smith. There sole intention was to be able protect as much as possible from their house upon the death of one of them and shelter funds from the potential of exorbitant social care fees for the survivor and also to be able to pass on as much as possible to their only child. During these meetings the issue of changing there ownership to "joint tennants" was never mentioned ! As this is the only method in England of sheltering any funds from their home from potential exorbitant Social Care fees I find this to be unbelievable. My Mother and Father were never made aware of this possibility and consequently have basic mirror wills which does not protect any of the house assetts form social care fees. My Father passed away suddenly after a short illness in 2015 leaving my Mother as the sole survivor, as they were joint owners the full value of the House is in jeopardy should my Mother who is 90 now have to go into Social Care. Had they been advised correctly to become Tennants in Common they could have protected 50% of the value of the house from Social Care fees ! Tenants in Common must be done when both are still alive ! I have contacted other firms who are astonished that this was never suggested to them as it is the only way in England to protect any of the value of the house from exorbitant Social Care fees. My Mother is adamant this was never mentioned, and my Father when he was alive never mentioned it to me ! They were just under the assumption that everything possible had been done to comply with their wishes, in fact the exact opposite is true, the absolute least had been done ! So everything they worked hard for their whole lives could be eaten up by Social Care fees. This needs to get investigated as it is downright wrong, my parents put their whole faith in Jayne Smith and she has seriously put my family in jeopardy.

Sarah Soo and Lyndsey Hudson recently helped us gain probate and realise/distribute assets following my father's death. They were professional, helpful and anwered all our queries promptly. I have no hesitation in recommending them to others (and I have done so already!)

Jayne Smith and Rotheras Solicitors have real ethics about what they do and understand that there is a real world out there and that sometimes you have to look beyond just saying 'Yes' and making money. In today's world this is important to have in a solicitor. I could not recommend Jayne more highly and the company.
