Hoddesdon Library

Love this library, we use it every other week. A great selection of children's books and I have never had a problem finding a good read. Staff are really helpful and approachable and go the extra mile to track down books. I have reserved many books and I found the email alert system really useful.

I went to the library a few times but hadn't realised how lovely and bright the children's library was! It is lovely and airy and spacious, There are more books than I could ever name... I remember childrens "corners" libraries when I was a child and they were nowhere near as nice or as big, Please take your children along, It is lovely and your children will love it! There is also a study area downstairs (again, haven't been down there). The staff are lovely and were so helpful when I needed to get new cards , and sort out about the self service etc.. The lady ( forgotten her name) was ever so helpful.

The staff are very helpful and they have a great selection of books and graphic novels. I use this library often because it's close to where I work. I like how all the Hertfordshire libraries are connected, so even though I live twenty miles away, I can pick up or drop off the books in my home town's library instead. This also means you have the selection of books from all the libraries combined and they'll move them on request to which ever library is most convenient.

They are nearly always busy when you need help on computers and whilst you get a hour free, waiting for help takes up time you should have on the computer. Also annoyingly they let people speak on their mobile phones or just be quite chatty in general. Phones are worse. They say no phones downstairs but that gets ignored too. Very distracting. I go there to study and yet it's very tricky. Thought libraries were quiet places. but not anymore. I am very grateful for libraries but let's not be quite so lienient.

Although the building is in need of a revamp, what makes this library a gem is the staff and services. Staff are helpful and friendly and the loans and reservations system, including the integration with online facilities, works flawlessly.

The children's area at the back is welcoming and cosy.

A few years ago when we had a preschooler, we would participate in the free events they held with story telling and activities.

Every year, they participate and promote the fun Summer Reading Challenge and the lack of this event this year due to Covid has been felt.

When they amalgamated with the post office, I was apprehensive but actually it has boosted their opening hours.

We have been users for 8 years and in that time, we must have borrowed over 1000 books for our daughter so they have played a vital part in her literacy.

Overall services in Hoddesdon library are really amazing including silent Hall, toilets, free WiFi etc. Library is closed at the moment due to lock down, however if anyone needs to access borough services or Post Office, any can can pop in as both of these business are located inside Hoddesdon library.

Great local library. Excellent resources, staff and welcoming environment for all.
The children's section has recently been revamped and it offers a huge variety of books for all ages.
We use it regularly and really value it as a free, open access service, as is the case for all of Hertfordshire's libraries and the facilities they offer.

Use post office. Only one customer in queue. Staff were highly efficient and dealt with me quickly, which was much appreciated.
