North Finchley Library

We have fun in our playgroup for babies and toddlers on Saturdays mornings. The management was very helpful. Although it's self service time we use the nice and warm study room without disturbing the people outside.

A small and underfunded library with a decent selection of books and very pleasant staff. Any book they do not have that is available in any Barnet Library can be ordered and reserved.

North Finchley Library used to be very family friendly because there WAS a room for children, so adults with toddlers could be slightly noisy without disturbing anyone trying to study. Also due to cutbacks they only have staff for certain hours. This means that if you don't have a pin to get into the library you can't get inside unless a member of staff is there and it means you can't apply for a new card if it is self service hours. Also some books haven't been registered so I cannot take out books I like in self service hours (Basically self service is rubbish).

The staff and volunteers are very helpful and although a small library, you can select books from other bigger libraries in the borough and collect them at North Finchley. Outside of staffed hours, you need an adult library card to access the library. A wonderful community resource.

Honestly I HATE this library. The opening hours with staff are HORRIBLE, without staff is just a mess and dirty everywhere!!! Shame on the management!!! Next time I go there I will take more pictures of the mess. I wasn't even able to make a payment as the machines were out of service and had to return home. For normal people that has to work during day time every day is impossible to get to this library with staff!! Get staff weekends from 10 to 4pm at least!!!!
