Somerset Heritage Centre

I wanted to know when a house was built (pre 1888) - staff were friendly and helpful - thanks

I was declined a copy of my birth certificate on the premise where i was born wasnt somerset but north somerset. I have the inconvenience of having to ring north somerset council in office hours. Poor service

Disappointed with the lack of useful information. Told to look elsewhere or pay loads of money. I would of thought they'd be more interested in the history of Taunton. Looking for the date the Burma memorial was first erected in it's previous position (pre 1996). Any help is appreciated

There needs to be far more willingness to communicate with 'new' visitors, and to anticipate their needs. For example, I find it difficult to stoop; yet, though their locker-keys are colour-coded, I was allowed to take a lower locker to store my bag. Nobody thought to point out where the lavatories are. This is ironic; because the Centre is still insisting on strict observation of 'corona virus' measures. But I have encountered this disjuncture between harsh corona-virus measures, in the absence of common courtesies often over the past two years. It's as though we've forgotten how to live normally. The interface with staff, when I did seek help was pleasant: and if I am required to use my Reading Ticket again, I will know to ask for a higher locker.

Spent three days here doing research for my PhD and so enjoyed working with the helpful, friendly staff. Thank you, SHC!

The staff here were brilliant, really helpful and put up with my stupid questions - it was my first time using their service. When I requested more documents they seemed to drop everything and jump on it which I really appreciated it. They took their time to explain the process and made the whole experience a lot easier. Thank you!
