Cathays Library

Great for walks, seeing wildlife and appreciating some of the work. On a nice day it's a good stroll

I love history and nature and this cemetery was able to fulfil both in just one walk. Dating back to 1859 this vast Victorian cemetery is the third biggest in the UK. As we walked in through the gates, I was captivated by the gothic style chapels and I hadn't realised just how big this cemetery was. There is plenty of notable interments here if you are interested in history and a conservation area to encourage wildlife. We sat on a bench for a while to take in our surroundings and funnily enough it is quite a tranquil place which is not a word I thought I would ever use to describe a cemetery..

Interesting place to go for a walk, rain or shine, in the middle of Cardiff. Very calming and a good place to clear the head. Beautifully maintained. Free street parking all around the perimeter.

The man at the reception desk was very lovely and helpful in printing out some things for me. As I didn’t have any change to pay for the prints only a note, he said I could come back with it another time. I’ll be sure to bring the change with me soon and will be printing some more things as well as getting a library card :) Thank you!

I honestly love this place so much. A great place if you want to crack on with some work, always warm and white and conducive to a productive time. Staff are always so helpful. Save your money from going to a café and pop to Cathays library.
