On the 31st July 2015, at approximately 10:47pm, I visited it to buy 4 strong (9%volume) lagers, at £1 a can. I only went there because the Polish shop on Cowley Road I usually use shut early.
Anyway, I walked in, picked up 4 cans of "XJ Super (XJS 9% Belgium Strong Lager) and went to the counter. The guy said "are they for yourself" and then I replied "yes, they are" then he said "if they are for those people outside on the bench, you're barred, they've had enough already" I said ok, paid the £4, and as I left, I turned around and said to the judgmental Asian man who served me "that's not a nice way to talk to your customers, I don't even know those people." He said "sorry, they ask other people to go in the shop for them."
Well, I would love to have a word with Mr Kerit, the guy who owns this shop. You're well regarded for supplying the street drinkers and homeless of Oxford with strong, cheap, expired alcohol, and even the Thames Valley Police know it.
I'm so disappointed that you judged me in this manner. I've never had this problem using a shop in my life. And I swear if you offered me a free can, several cans, or even £1000 cash I would refuse to use your shop again. I sincerely hope you go out of business, as then those "people on the benches outside" would no longer hang around, and passers-by would no longer be hassled for money, or to go in the shop, by street people and their out of control dogs who are behaving in an intimidating and drunk manner purely and solely by the cheap alcohol you sell.
Long-established businesses on the Cowley Road are dropping like flies, none of them deserve it, but you do. Kerit's Classic Wines are nearly solely responsible for the intoxicated, disadvantaged people you encounter in that stretch of Cowley.
Please disappear.
Yours faithfully,
Adam R******n (famous for riding the scooter ;) )
The standout factor is the level of friendliness and welcome extended by the staff. I was recently given a free t shirt for my custom - a slightly worrying sign of my alcohol consumption but a nice gesture that has cemented my will to spend my hard eared UKbucks in the salubrious confines of the Deli rather than in local supermarket behemoths.
Again, some of the booze is past its best my date - but if that's a big dewal for you, there are many items that are entirely fresh and delicious. For these prices, with this range and this levle of friendliness, its a gift to local drinkers who want recommendations, kindness and expertise as oppose to the soulless automation of nearby supermarkets.
Highly reccomended!
