Summer 2021

Great music venue in East London, part of the renowned toilet gig circuit. (Toilets are very clean and well stocked in this pub)

Large main room with large stage which presents an all round good view of stage.

This event was a socially distanced one during covid times, which meant venue was well ventilated.

Great beer and outside seating area. 'Hard of Hearing Music Magazine' lineup of bands was of great quality, and the acoustics in the room were good.

Worth noting ....

If the pub has a gig scheduled for that night you do need to book a ticket in advance to get into the venue.

Booking was available via 'DICE' Tickets. In this instance gig was was fully sold out at capacity so no tickets available to buy on the door.

Easter 2022 George Tavern:

Hard of Hearing Magazine 'Intersteller all day Event'.

Charity gig to raise funds for Trussel Trust support for rough sleepers, and Ukraine Conflict (affected families - non weapons purchase)

Bands
Fraulein
Headboy
Painted Bird
Hand of God

Great all dayer gig in great venue, good lighting, good stage space, good acoustics, good beer, good crowd, good bands.

Hard of Hearing Magazine 'Intersteller all day Event'.

A great place for intimate live music! Easy to find, staff were lovely. Pretty vibey inside. Good outdoor space with seating. Sound and lights for the band we saw were really good, highly recommend going

Lovely old pub with cute outdoor space. Good if you have a dog. The reason I wont give it 5 stars is when there's an event there are bouncers and they're quite rude to everybody I've noticed.

Had a great time at this place. One night we went there was a DJ playing all types of music and on another there were a couple punk bands. Great prices, nice people!

I went in The George Tavern on a Saturday evening, it was dark, dingy, moody...which was brilliant! The pub has a lot of character, the staff are friendly and the prices are not bad too!

If you pay cash, check your change, the guys at the bar steal. I purchased drinks that came to £14, paid with £20 but received only £3.50 change. As it's hard times for everyone, I understand that the bearded man at the bar believed he deserved a tip, from a seemingly drunk punter, but alas I am neither drunk nor dumb, but rather than cause a dramatic scene inside a depressing venue, over £2.50, I'll simply let people know that if you go to the George Tavern, please check your change because, during these desperate times, the bar staff are stealing cash.

I love the George Tavern as a place to meet friends. Great atmosphere with a good live band. However staff have not worked out the table service very well and you can't go to the bar so we waited a very long time for drinks. Disappointingly the server brought us a white rum and ginger ale for a 'dark and stormy'

Not a gastropub; not a posh pub. But a pub with character, a good range of beers, and very eclectic music performances. Everyone is welcome, and you will rarely have a chance to be this close to the music!
